THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I actually have two browing hi powers...the first one is serial # T 27379X.....it has been in my family since 1970 something is
All I can remember...it's never been shot but it has had some gold accents done , the slide release, the trigger, spur hammer ,mag release button and the safety,
I honestly don't remember the rear site being replaced but it's different than others I've seen...they look like older Bo mar with adjustable front
Head then the site flat strip runs all the wayTo the end of the ejector....has orginal barrel, all else....the front site is high like on the targent
Sites....could anyone please give me any imput on the rear site...orginal....yes, no ?........and maybe a closer manufacter date than I came up with.. And I still have the blk leather case with it...

The second is my rear question gun...serial # T19771X.....it appears to be all orginal...has ring hammer ,small hard to use safety....but at sometime... ( I just got this one) somebody replaced the orginal sites front and rear with night sites.....they've been on it awhile because there is very little glow remaining
There does not appear to have been any alteration on the gun by doing so...the rear are dove tail, so slip out..slip in....the front appear to be stake in with more than likely I hope a little nut holding them on.....my question is , your gentlemens imput on replacing the sites back to orginal...and from where could I get them...I already checked numrick and they were a no go......also how does the front ring covering the back of the frt site remove..it's almost like the barrel bushing on a colt 1911....
And again can anyone assist on maybe dating it better than me..on the trigger guard is sideways "W - a stick looking figure, lion I think - and a straight line and under that is PV" .....this same letters and figure are on the two piece barrel also....the first gun only has the pineapple and like both cal 9mmp..on the barrel

And help would be greatly appreciated..also I am around the Dallas Texas area so if anyone recommends someone to do the sites even better..

Thanks all...jackpot / Russell

Unfortunately the accuracy of FN/Browning serial numbers leaves a lot to be desired. The Browning website has a "Date your firearm" section.....but is rife with bad information and downright errors. This is due in part to FN being a manufacturer who really didn't keep very good records.

Your serial # is a glaring example of FN/Browning being slack in their recordkeeping.....it falls outside the range of "the last" T series. Yours isn't rare because the Browning chart doesn't show it, its just a bad chart. There have been many, many examples of T serial number higher than T261000.
Here is the chart for HP's: http://www.browning.com/customerservice/dategun/detail.asp?bg=x&id=35

From your description you do not have a typical T series Hi Power.......none ever had spur hammers, gold accents or adjustable sights. Bomar sights with a rib were very popular in the 60's and 70's on HP's and 1911's.......but definitely not a factory sight.

1967 on #2. All the marks are Belgian proof marks.
Originally, the front sight was silver soldered in place....no telling how they attached that front nightsight.

Hello....hey I appreciate the info.......yeah I don't care much what they are worth as I have no intention of selling them......I've been considering shooting the unfired one ..I mean heck that's what they are for...and besides I think there has been so much customizing with the gold accents and such it has no collector value other than to me...

I greatly appreciate you chiming in with info ...all is very helpful..

Do you by chance know how the barrel like ring on the end of the upper comes off...I can't find that info anywhere..if I can get that off maybe I can see how the front site is attached"

Thanks again, Russell / jackpot

You need to post a pic....it sounds like someone attached a muzzle break.

Hi Powers do not have barrel bushings like a 1911....so its confusing that you've seen them on other Hi Powers.

If yours has one it was an aftermarket gunsmithing job.
