Dumb question but is the mak quite a bit more powerful than .380?

There are some +p 380 rounds that have more pop than 9x18, and the CZ won't have any problem handling +p rounds.

Also note that the CZ 83 was available chambered in 9x18 (and 32 acp) in addition to .380.  The main difference between the 82 and 83 is that the 83 was finished much nicer  than the 82.

I do reload for .380.  I found several 83 on gunbroker that CDI is selling.  Some pretty cheap.
I did bid on one.  LOL

It sure seem like their are not many 82 out their.  If it was not for CDI their would not be many 83 either.
Would these be a bear to take apart and refinish?
Also I read that they have polygonal rifling.  The pictures of the ones I looked like land and groove.
thanks again

If you are buying it to collect or just for the hell of it, either one will do.  That said, I have an 83 and was surprised by how jarring the recoil impulse was.  Not that there was a lot of recoil- because there isn't, but rather that the gun feels like it's beating itself to death with each shot.  It's not super fun to shoot a whole lot due to this.  I think I shot a couple mags, cleaned it, and put it away.

If I were looking again, I'd seek the 7.65 browning version of the 83.  More rare.

I did get the 83,  Great little gun very happy with it.
I have a chance to trade a 92s for a cz82.  While owning the 83 is it stupid to get the 82?

I went a head and traded for the 82. Can't wait to get it.

Well known issue.
Wolf makes new extra power recoil springs.
Get the top most lb. one.
It will make it shootable again.
These are of course straight blow back with no locking mechanism.
Any pistol that operates that way will recoil harder than lock up designs.  Felt recoil I guess.

I'm getting my 82s and 83s mixed up again, not sure what poundage for a 380.  Maybe the second highest poundage one.

I got an 83 and an 82 on the way.
I shot the 83 the other day.  I like it.  The gun feels great in the hand.
I know it goes against a lot of modern thinking.  Its heavy and big for a .380.  But I like it.what a great buy.

It's not really polygonal, either. Imagined a twisted, slightly flattened tube. It looks like there's no rifling at all at first.

You just described polygonal rifling.

There's a lot of variations, but they're all polygonal.
