Have a birthday coming up, 40.... Want to buy a hunk of steel to cheer me up... I like the base model 75, but also I'm drawn to the SP-01! Going to my favorite LGS tomorrow to see and fondle them, what would you guy's pick for such an occasion???

That is nice, but I prefer all black . Do they make different versions of the SP-01 safety/decocker? Also to toss in a monkey wrench I REALLY like the look of the new Jericho 941's he has in, believe they're 467-...

I vote SP-01 with decocker.  I love mine.  Hands down the best pistol I have ever owned.

Can't say anything about the all steel/aluminum CZ's but my P09 in 9MM is the absolute most accurate 9MM I own.  The XDM/M&P/Browning guns can just stay in the safe, they don't have a chance.

Turning 40 in a few months myself. Been eyeballing a CZ97B.

SP01 Tactical would be my recommendation

I was torn between the Compact and the PCR but ended up ordering the all-steel Compact. CZ's absolutely have the best grip of any pistol I've held. Buy with confidence!

My LGS has the basic SP-01's for 600-. Are the more expensive versions a must have or is are the basic ones GTG?

Are you buying a cz 75 variant because it came out during the year of your birth? If so, getting the cz 75 retro model that looks more like the original might be kind of cool.

The coming out in "75 just adds to the coolness IMO . I had a PCR for a bit, but had to sell it...Can the basic SP-01 be made into a Shadow down the road?

SP01 is the correct answer

I just grabbed up a CZ75 P09. I only have about 3 magazines through it so far.  I am pleased with it so far.  Shoots well, although it was a windy rainy day when I was out at the range. I will look to add at least one more at some point, and will likely go with the sp-01  The only draw back to the p09 is the cost of magazines at almost $50 each.  That really is kind of nuts.

Just stopped by my LGS...He has SP-01, the Tactical and the P-01 in stock. P-01 feels the best in my hand, would love both but can't right now. Have to think hard on this one

I like them both. They're hard to find and 600 isn't a bad price for that tactical. How much is the p01?

600- for either SP-01/tac and 550- for the P-01.

It will also be my "go to" pistol as a mate to my SAM7R if that matters on the choice

I have a 75 Compact (and Kadet kit) and SAM7SF as my go-to.

The factory 25rd mags hang out and run just fine if I need to run the Jack Bauer Power Hour courses..

Recently added a P07.

Maybe it's something you're supposed to do at 40. November for me and I'm ordering a SP-01 Tactical tomorrow.
