THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT But size/weight wise it looks only slightly smaller than a glock 19. Is it worth getting? Useable as a pocket carry gun? Talk me into or out of this thing. Thanks! |

I have a CZ82/83, they are nice guns. I like all CZ pistols. They are well made, and accurate. They are also large for the 9x18/.380 caliber, don't make a good concealed carry piece, unless you always wear a big coat. The 82 does have a sharp recoil, the 83 has a bit less.if you like the Glock 19, check out a CZ P01, mine will shoot circles around the Glock.

No to pocket carry, but an awesome gun otherwise. I put an 18lb recoil spring in mine and it shoots soft w/ Brown Bear.

You'll like the 82 for obvious reasons like those you listed. I prefer the 83 though. Less recoil, easier to put the rounds where you want them. But I love both. You can't go wrong with any CZ pistol.

I carry my 82 when I don't carry my 1911. Very accurate.

I like my 83 a lot. It used to be my CCW.
You're not likely to get it into a normal size pocket. |

Talk me into or out of this thing. Excellent ergonomics, excellent trigger, excellent sights, ambidextrous magazine release, ambidextrous safety (works like a 1911 or "big" CZ), very good accuracy, reliable. Thanks! |

I've got a similar question:
I've got a PA-63 in 9x18. Is the CZ82 a step up? I'm really interested in an upgrade but I want to stick with the 9x18 round because I really like it. Everything on paper makes the CZ82 look like a better gun but is it? |

Pretty much, yeah. Wider, though. They're both good guns and nice to have.

I have a PA63 and a CZ83, both nice guns. While my CZ is 380 and not 9 MAK it's the best shooting recoil operated pistol I've ever owned or fired. Most recoil operated pistols have a fairly stout recoil for the power in the cartridge. I was surprised years ago shooting a Beretta M84 at the stout recoil. From my understanding the 9 MAK 82 while it has more recoil than a 380 83 I'm sure you'll find it'll be considerably less than a PA63. I have both a PA63 and the smaller SMC and while both are very nice firearms for the money, their alloy frames let you feel every bit of a 9 MAK's recoil. As mentioned, the 82's dimensions are too large for pocket carry but mine fits great in a 511 vest pocket. The 82/83's ergonomics are almost perfect, a very easy pistol to shoot well. The surplus 82's are one of the best buys today.

I'm used to it now but everyone who I let shoot it tells me that they don't like it. I tell them that they are just wimps. |

I have one, and I like it. I wouldn't choose one over a G19, unless the absolute limit of my budget was $250.00. It's a well designed and quality built pistol. Reliable and accurate. A marginal, but serviceable chambering. Cocked and locked safety that operates nearly identical to the 1911. An excellent trigger in both DA and SA, good mag capacity, Ambi safety and Mag release. Sights interchange with the CZ75 (probably other CZ's), so you have a lot of options if you don't like the stock sights. Lousy finish. Not much in the way of holster selection. Ammo selection is pretty limited as well. By far the best 9x18mm surplus pistol I've ever seen.

Everything has pretty much been said already. One thing I'll add is that my CZ82 fits perfectly inside a Bianchi 100 made for an Officer sized 1911.

Anybody know the condition of J&G CZ83 in 380? Wonder if it's worth the extra $20 for the hand picked or if I will have to refinish it anyway.
Kind of leaning getting non hand picked and just plan on parking it. Got the solution, stainless pot my wife won't notice AWOL . Why get 380 since it will be a fun gun don't want to bother stocking another type of round. |

I would be very careful who you buy your CZ 82 from. They are all usually around the same price, but find someone who sells them with the cleaning kit, 2 mags, and the mag pouch. Also, pay the handpick fee, because it is definately worth it. As far as the PA63 vs the CZ82, the CZ is a great weapon. I have heard the hammer is hard to get to on the Radom, but either way I dont want to be carrying a 9x18 round gun with small capacity like 6 rounds. CZ82 carries 12+1, so that is about as high cap as it gets for a gun of its size. It is bulky, but a good carry holster solves that. Mine is an EDC CCW and I havent had anyone notice. Someone saw it once in hand and actually thought it was a walther ppk. It was at the range and we were discussing the benefits of it vs a revolver. He smarted off and said his revolver carried as many rounds and was less viable to malfunction. When I enlightened him to it not being a ppk, and having twice the rounds, AND shot damn near dead accurate at 25 yards with it, he was surprised and asked where to buy one. I recommend them, but read my earlier threads. APEX sells spare mags, factory original with Czech Military stamp on them for $28, dont not Carry with Steel casings (They will jam), replace the damn recoil spring, put in a 17 for factory style and 19 if you plan to use a lot of steel rounds. I love them to death, they are excellent handguns.
