Just curious if any of the ar15.com community has owned or does own a Bersa Thunder 380. I'm thinking of picking one up. Love the look them and I think the 380 round is very suitable for carry. I've seen mixed reviews on the gun itself, just curious if any of you wonderful people have some input

I have one. It certainly doesn't compare to my Sig P232, but all in all is a fine little handgun, especially for the price.  I haven't had malfunctions with mine, although on their boards I do hear that some need a "break-in" period.

My son had gotten one in a trade and kept it as a car gun for a while. It worked reliably but was not the most comfortable gun to shoot.

Great gun for the money if you don't  mind that it's  a .380.  I know several people who carry them including my father and no of no issues with them; I've put probably 400rnds through the one my dad has.  Magazines and holsters can be a bit hard to find and there are smaller .380s available but overall I like them.

I have worked at a large indoor shooting range since April.  Out of all the jammed guns on the range, Bersa .380s are the worst.  I have cleared 40 + Bersa jams(different guns), more than any other type of gun.  I would avoid them at all costs.

I suppose it is possible, but mine and the others I have fired certainly do not have this problem. Mine even digests HP stuff readily. I do read about a "break in" period on some of the Bersa forums, but I never had issues even during the first few hundred rounds.

I don't doubt that there are some good ones, but it's a percentage game.  Some were new out of the box, others were older but well maintained.  I was giving a CHL prep lesson to someone with one and the double action trigger didn't work at all and the single action trigger wouldn't drop the hammer 1 out of 10 times.

I've owned and shot one for over 10 years. Mine has always been very reliable and it has a pretty decent trigger out of the box.

Pretty much a Walther PPK/s with a different manufacturer.  A friend had one and the recoil, trigger and balance were the same as my PPK/s.  I personally would prefer a Sig 230 for DA/SA pistol or a striker fired Glock  42 or Kahr over the Bersa.  I think the design is a little dated as there are easier to shoot 380's for the same size or smaller.  The blow back action produces a lot of recoil and is to uncomfortable for most shooters for more than a few rounds.
