THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I had one of these in the past but never put much ammo through it. A Kimber import. The Tri-Action seemed clever but that link bar (for lack of a better description) under the right grip gave me pause for some reason. They are value priced and the ROK Army uses their version. I also had some MecGar SW 59 series mags that worked fine. Does anyone have real world facts about their longevity and dependability? Do the ROKs love them? Are parts available if needed? TIA |

TIA No nothing about those. I do know the one I had was not accurate at all. 8" groups at 7 yards. |

Bamatraders.com has some parts for them. But no mags or mag parts. I own the dp51 I bought it new in 1994. It has never failed or jammed on me. Now the spring in my mag has become weak and when I load all 13 rounds I think it collapses and I can hear a couple of rounds rattling around in it. When I use that mag I have FTF issues. I have tried a 10 rd mag that I have thats oem with no problems. This was my first hand gun purchase.

Find a Mec-Gar mag for a S&W 59. They are a bit longer and protrude a bit, but work great. 15 rounds too.

I've had one for years (two, actually, since I gave one to my mom). I've put a couple thousand rounds through it easily, no problems. They can use S&W 59 type mags without any problem.

I've owned two. Both were reliable as all get out. Both shot well enough. I wouldn't say match accuracy, but average for a service pistol.
The Tri-action thing is interesting, but after a while it's not anything to get excited about. It does what it does and it's pretty cool. It's just that after a while the novelty wears off. As far as the trigger bar, the Beretta 92/M9 has the same thing. I've heard alot of people bitch about the Beretta for various reasons, but the trigger bar isn't one of them. Realistically, I don't think it's a weakness in any way. Parts aren't impossible to find with the internet, but you're going to be limited to take-offs, etc. They haven't been imported in a while. They are usually up on the various auction boards though. More parts availability that the rifles. Mags are no problem because the Koreans were smart enough to design it to use a mag that was already designed, proven reliable, and in production. When you think about all the trouble guns have with mags, this is a great design move. It's designed to take the S&W 59 mag. The 59 mag is a tad shorter than the 5906 mag, though the same on the top end. S&W went to a longer grip on the later gen guns, so they had to make a longer mag. The Daewoo will take any generation mag, from the original to the later longer ones. So the 59 mags fit perfectly, but the 5906 mags will stick out a hair. So getting mags is no problem. The gun will usually fit in holsters that will fit the 59/5900 series. So holsters aren't much of a problem either. They are sized nice IMO. They're small enough and light enough to carry and big enough to do service pistol duty. They seem to fit my hand really well. The trigger is in the right place, even on DA, and the grip isn't strange feeling. I personally like the way it feels. I like them personally. The recent influx of ones that hit the market are offered at a pretty decent price. You're getting alot for your money on one of these. |

As a new owner of one of these guns I thought I'd put in my 2 cents, I picked mine up at a gun show recently for a great price, a 1/3 of the price of a comparable gun of any quality.
I put over a 1000 rounds through it so far and I really like it, I'd say as far as the gun being accurate its definitively one of the best I've seen, very on par with some match 1911's I've shot before. I don't claim to be able to do it but the gunsmith I let look it put the entire 17rnd clip into a 2 inch group at 20 yards. Which I think is quite good considering the condition of weapon at the time, I've since field stripped and gave it a really nice cleaning, considering putting a trigger mounted rail on for a laser just for giggles. In any case, I've not found any real shortage of parts for it, the small stuff is available from bamtraders, pins, springs, seals, bushings, sights, etc (I replaced a trigger spring and the plastic grips) http://www.bamatraders.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=13_59_165&viveid=77dlm0j13tri1k5ra7kts6d6k4 These are the 17rnd mags, which work fine and fit good, I'd suggest you lube them up one time before usage as it can be a snugger fit. http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ItemDetail.aspx?sku=2MCGSW5917B You'll also want to get a speed-loader, especially if you get extra clips, same one the 92FS uses, http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/2HKS941-1.html Its obviously a full size gun, but the triple action mode and the fact resetting the hammer doesn't de-cock the weapon makes it a nice carry gun, even concealed if necessary. |

I have one as well and despite the rough tool marks inside the bore, it shoots straight and has yet to jam even with my crappy handloads.
