I did....it broke in half.....it's just pot metal and heating it up didn't even help..

I kinda figured it wasn't good metal just from the way it feels. I wonder how hard it would be to modify a trigger from something else to work in it.

It's just a flat piece of metal with 2 holes in it...shouldn't be to hard for a local machine shop to cut one out of flat stock with a different profile.

Or....you could try to cut down and reshape the original.

yes I have a glock too, in fact I have owned a few of them! Love em!! But at the end of the day, a glocks just a glock and a tec 9 is still the gun of choice for Jack Burton, a bunch of gangsta's and a couple GI Joe guys!!!

Hey, let's not forget Gem ((Jeremy Renner) in the final scenes of "The Town" blasting away with his TEC-9.

Honestly...I think there cool as hell. 90% of the time its a cheap magazine that causes the reliability issues. I've got factory mags and mine runs darn near 100%. Adding the rail and dot sight to mine was a huge improvement, and its actually pretty accurate...for what it is. It's a simple design and I'd love to see someone resurect the gun with todays newer polymers. Update the frame to accept something like sten mags, ad a full length picatinny rail and maybe make a carbine version that accepts ar stocks...it would be a really fun little gun...and cheap to produce as theres really nothing to them....but thats just me.

I just got a semi-automatic RPB M11 that's an open bolt version. What a well built fun gun. With original magazines it rocks. Aftermarket mags suck major dugans. I know nothing about Tec-9's. Are they open bolts as well?

The original "tec 9s" were open bolt.... but technically, the weren't called tec9s. The originals were made by Interdynamic Arms... and were known as KG9s (and KG99). All of the Intratec variants were closed bolt.

More than you ever wanted to know about Tec 9s, found here.

Back in the late 80s, I borrowed one from a friend. Shot a bunch of the cheap Egyptian 9mm through it. The only malfunctions were ammo related. (Cheap Egyptian 9mm ammo performed equally well in a Luger, Colt, and an AR-15. Not so well in a SIG and a Hi-Power).

It was thoroughly reliable. It was a perfect pray and spray type weapon. I gave it back to my friend, and because I had shot corrosive ammunition, he turned the garden hose on it. Last I heard, it was still reliable. wonder if the reports of unreliability have anything to do with hollow point ammunition?

Mine will shoot hollow points reliably, as long as I'm using the factory mag... it does however get iffy when shooting anything steal cased through it, regardless of the magazine used.

I had one maybe 10 years ago (Intratec DC-9). I had 3 mags for it, it ran perfectly with 2 of them and jammed all the time with the third. It was a cool gun to have on the front seat while driving around, but the novelty wore off soon enough. I sold it or traded it off, but I can't remember what I had into it or got out of it.

Shitty pic, but tag.

Tec-22 and Kimel AP-9 (supposedly preban but rather than threaded, utilized a quick disconnect system).

My AP-9 was definitely pre-ban and it had the same style muzzle, FWIW.

These remind me of my UZI pistol. Not very practical, but fun as heck.

I had one years ago that was 100% reliable and if you used a sling around your neck and pushed it out SAS style, accuracy wasn't bad either. However, I did get rid of it. I had read about TEC-9s that would fire out of battery if the bolt wasn't fully closed. I decided to try putting a primed case into the chamber, let the bolt go forward so the extractor would grab the rim then pushed the bolt back slightly so I could see the brass casing in the ejection port. Press the trigger and sure enough there was the snap of the primer going off so the reports were correct that they could indeed fire out of battery. Now when firing live ammo I never experienced this so it may have all been an overblown problem but I just never felt that secure with it after that and it was sold shortly thereafter.

I've broken 1 firing pin in my Tec 9, with close to 600 rnds through it. Actually broke when dry firing. Now I use snap caps when storing.
Mine loves remington FMJ, and dislikes most other ammo. They are fun!

I've used other original mags that run 100% , however I also have one of the 32 round mags sold by Midway (I think National Magazine makes it)and it's absolute junk..it won't feed two consecutive rounds...ever.
I took a UTG picatinny rail made for the mossberg 500, drilled and tapped the receiver for it and mounted a UTG red-dot which quite honestly has been an outstanding optic.
I used a cut down version of the same UTG rail on the bottom of the shroud as well
I'm considering going the SBR route as well. I'm kinda leanin towards an ACE pig-nose adapter and one of their ultralight stocks, along with a MOE RVG up front...I think it would not only look cool, but be a hell of a lot of fun..

None of mine ever fired out of battery. Owned 5 over the years with no problems. My cobray m11 semi was a whole nother story. Still have scars on my forehead from that pig popping one off on a misfeed....
The novelty finally wore off and switched to my g17 with 33rd mags. Much more accurate and comfortable! And more compact and lighter....
