THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I just went to the range yesterday and got to shoot my unfired tec 9. Everyone I've talked to said jam-o-matic. So I figured that never having been broken in, it could jam a lot! I put right around 100rnds of lower pressure lead reloads through it and didn't have a single stoppage!!!! I was truly happy about this!!!! Also it cut a very rough 4 by 6 hole in the target at right around 15 yards fairly rapid fire most of the time!!!

Many of the commentaries about it jamming seem to also include aftermarket magazines. Apparently the plastic lower receiver can also crack if used with +P 9mm ammo, and there are no replacement receivers. Post some pics & enjoy!

Not sure why pic shows up with brown type tint on spots, NIB type condition, never fired until me!!LOL!!! It has 3 mags a strap and an "assualt" case with it when I bought it. I did notice one of the aftermarket mags base plate was cracked, so I ran some gorrilla tape around it.

I tried a couple, not really trying too hard, but all I could get was a 2 or 3 rnd burst. I'm sure I'll try again!! If it bumps like my m11 or calico that'd be cool!!!

Fun guns. I had one back in the early 1990's.

A buddy of mine took me back to an old strip mine in Ky and we had a tree that was blocking the road.

Used the TEC-9 and 2 mags to cut it in half.

Definitely looks nice than mine. May I ask what you paid? Mine jammed a lot too eventually figured out it was a mag issue/extractor. The factory mag some idiot decided to modify for some reason, still have to fix it, bought an aftermarket mag and it worked fine, after I worked the extractor a bit. As crappy as people claim they are I wold not trade mine at this point also gets a lot looks at the range, because you just don't see them much anymore.

I really want to get one. I thoroughly enjoy classic gangster rap, and I also think it would be hilarious to show up at IDPA practice with one.

'Yer evil. I recently bought an IBM receiver so I can someday call them on 1 April & complain that my IBM is locked up, & what should I do to fix it?

I owned two and mine were both very problematic (yes, with factory mags, no mods).

Ironically, I have two TEC-22s that run very well, and they have just as bad of a jamomatic rep.

Go figure.

Glad you got a good'n!

There's a screw on the side of the bolt, hex key.

If you adjust the extractor for a certain type of ammo, and only use that brand of ammo in it, it will run like a sewing machine.

I miss mine. KG-9

How does adjusting the extractor come into play? If it works for one type of ammo it should work for all types right?

Part of the jam-o-matic reputation can be attributed to the extractor. The extractors can be problematic but I've never heard of 'adjusting' them with the hex screw that secures them in place. I had to reshape the end of my extractor with a small file for reliable ejection. Works like a charm will all ammo I've tried since then. I liked it so much that I did the SBR thing on mine. Lots of fun suppressed too!

Forgot to mention, this is actually an Interdynamic KG99 not a Tec-9. Bought it when they first came out in the early eighties for $200.00.

I had a Tec 9 in the 80's too. It ran OK, but I had a couple of problems with it. Ended up selling it to some dubious character.

I want to say there was another version of it that had a front grip on it - this was before AFT decided that a pistol was evil and unlawful if it had a front grip. Now that one would be pretty cool looking.

I'd be a fun gun today. Grow your Jack Burton pork chops out and you're set.

I'm meeting a guy on Saturday to buy one. Honestly, I don't even care too much if it jams occasionally. It's just one of those guns that I want to own and fondle from time to time.

My Tec runs like a top... long as I stay away from aftermarket magazines.

My Tec22 is a screamer too...

This is the 2nd Tec-9 I've owned....still sorry I sold the 1st one I bought back in the early 90's. The aftermarket magazines are definitely the weak point. That 50 round magazine thats in the pic will feed 49 rounds perfectly...the last round has a 50/50 chance of not feeding. I figure it's just like having a last shot bolt hold open feature, lol.
I've used other original mags that run 100% , however I also have one of the 32 round mags sold by Midway (I think National Magazine makes it)and it's absolute junk..it won't feed two consecutive rounds...ever.
I took a UTG picatinny rail made for the mossberg 500, drilled and tapped the receiver for it and mounted a UTG red-dot which quite honestly has been an outstanding optic.
I used a cut down version of the same UTG rail on the bottom of the shroud as well
I'm considering going the SBR route as well. I'm kinda leanin towards an ACE pig-nose adapter and one of their ultralight stocks, along with a MOE RVG up front...I think it would not only look cool, but be a hell of a lot of fun..

OK so just to ask... Has anyone ever tried to straighten a tec 9 trigger? I gotta admit its the one part of the gun I'm not wild over. More on the lines of a tec22 or even just straight?
