Hi all,

I will soon have my CCW permit and was browsing possible carry options at gun stores and gun shows, and the Kahr seems to fit me the best. Out of all the guns, it points the best and I can most easily reach the controls. Just as importantly, it has the simplest battery of arms that I've found. I was considering the taurus 709 or the Ruger LCR, but they both have a whole festival of safeties and takedown pins and slide releases, I just wanted a simple glock-style carry weapon.

Are they reliable? Could I trust them as my CCW, or should I suck it up and carry a full-sized pistol like a SP2022 or Glock 17?

My CW9 has been 100% reliable. Its easy to aim and easy to fire.

Only thing I didnt like about mine were the sharp corners and edges. Did a de-horn/melt job on mine.

Usually carry it in my front pocket.

I recently grabbed a CM9... The mini-9. Not much larger than a P3AT or a BG380, but power level is much higher, and only real difference is about 1/4" of extra barrel.

My CM9 has been just shy of 100% out of the box... Only failure has been 1 cast round with excess lube. the lube caught up on the ramp and it FTF.... I blame that on the ammo, not the Kahr.

The Kahr has a sweet trigger for the size.

Nice! I've been considering doing the same with my CM9. How did you do it? Did you have it bead blasted afterwards?

I bought a P40 just before the Ohio ccw law was passed in 2004. After eight years, thousands of rounds and a complete barrel and slide replacement its still my primary carry piece and is on my belt as I write this.. Your making a good choice, I own 3 Kahrs and they have all been good to go from the start.

I'd suggest you look at the CM9. I have carried a full size GLOCK and still to carry a 23 in the winter but they (in my opinion) are too big in the summer.

I did it all in my garage.

This is the label from the buffing wheel. Been thinking about opening up the ejection port, but not sure it would help anything. Gun runs 100%.

Just a warning about this wheel, it will remove a lot of metal if you really lean into it. It will also polish metal if you use it lightly. I use it for a lot of things I want polished or smoothed out.

I have either owned or fired:
Pm9
Mk9
E9
P9
Cw9
P40
Pm40
P380

It's my opinion that the 40 is too hot for the little Kahr frame.
I do like the round, that's a p99 40s&w in my avatar.
I don't like it in small pistols though.

You have my blessing on the CW9 sir.

But if you want my full blessing, save a few more pennies and pick up a P9. They are just a little more rugged, namely the front sight.
