I thought this is great as I am currently in the market for something "easier" to carry than my Glocks, and with more firepower than my J -Frames. The gun appears well made, and the trigger is very user friendly for a DAO design with no safety. I received two magazines with my loaner gun. They suck. They barf rounds and the floor plates are too easily removed. A magazine is a crucial component. It deserves greater attention to detail than what Kahr affords it. I took it out to the range yesterday with about 300 rounds of various FMJ and some Gold Dots. The gun wasn't spotless when I got it, but it wasn't what I'd call filthy, either. I could tell the slide was being retarded by friction when I first got the gun. Charging the barrel it seemed slow and laggy. This was confirmed at the range. The first couple of magazines went off ok, and then it started choking failing to bring the slide fully forward and into battery. I was assured that the gun hadn't seen 1,000 rounds during it's entire life. The failures became more common the more I shot. Eventually it was basically every round that I needed to use the heel of my hand as a forward assist on the rear of the slide. It was fucking annoying. I quit shooting before I ran out of ammo. I bought some cleaning supplies and tore the thing apart back at the hotel. There was some carbon and it was mostly dry, but nothing that should have been causing it to choke like it was. Maybe I'm just spoiled with my guns. I could tell the slide was moving better once I cleaned it and kept it wet with lube. Good enough to get me home, I guess. It then occurred to me that if this gun got bloody or even slightly dirty, it would most likely have a failure when you needed it most. And when you performed a reload you would find that the magazine had liberated itself of the first couple of rounds. I really, really wanted to like Kahr pistols. I read all of the reports and tried to keep an open mind. After this first hand experience, they are permanently being placed on the NO GO list. Luckily, there are now several single stack 9mms on the market. If you don't like the Kahr, look at the kel-tec pf-9. Mine has ran flawlessly, and i carry a spare mag loose in my pocket and have never had an issue. Bersa has a new single stack 9 that is supposed to be very nice, but i haven't actually seen one. I fondled a shield yesterday at a large gun store. My buddy that works the range there shot one the S&W rep had and he loved it, said everyone who shot it loved it. Another friend of mine hated it, so who knows. But something tells me, you're not going to be happy with a slim gun until Glock starts making a single stack 9. Good luck rind ng something. |

Now that we have guns like the Wather PPS and S&W Shield, Kahr is no longer relevant.
The market will dictate how people put up with their "issues" and inconsistencies. I do see a lot of them for sale used. |

Two friends and I just bought trade in k9s. Ive put 200 through mine and they each put about 100 through their guns respectively.
No cleaning just off the rack to blasting. Zero malfunction so far. Got them all cleaned and they seem to be pretty much new under a bit of gunk and some finish wear from carry. After reading this it seems more shooting is in order. The Mag's lose a round when carried loose but that is the only problem easily fixed with carriers. They shoot pretty smooth even with 127 plus p plus. Not sure what to think about packing this gun. Very easy to carry. Unreal its like not carrying anything. I usually carry a 1911 or g21 with a g26 backup... I feel a bit under armed with the little kahr but it will be great for backup. Ive dressed around my guns every day for years and I always carry. I see the little k9 turning me lazy soon. Just needs a bit more vetting it seems. |

The magazines splitting was a bad batch that went around.. It happens.. And kahr has said many times to carry them in a good carrier, they have to have them built that way due to the barrels bore axis, it is much lower than anything else on the market and rounds popping out is the trade off. Mec gar makes these mags for kahr and there not crap. It sounds like you just wanba come in here and maje us agree that kahrs are crap and we should all buy shields or something instead...
I would bet you didnt have the guide rod in correctly and it was getting caught up. If it isnt in the perfect position the slide will catch about a 1/8 inch before fully seating... Who knows?? Just buy a shield I guess??lol |
