I don't own either one but would like to know why SA didn't make them interchangeable ?

Agree! Not a bright idea on that one.

The .45s are the same.

I prefer the XDMs, 19+1 of 9mm is nice. The threaded barrel model gets you a tiny bit longer than 5.25in barrel.

The XD-40 was an after thought (long after the HS-2000 became the SA XD-9) and simple built on the XD-9 frame with a new slide, barrel and bastard magazine.  The XD-40 being built on the 9mm frame was stuck with magazine bodies that are 9mm width just with 40S&W width feed lips.  This resulted in a 40S&W magazine that is not a true double stack, hence the 12rd capacity of the XD-40.  When the XDm came along they designed the platform from the ground up to be 40S&W and 9mm so the frame was made wide enough to accommodate a true double stack 40S&W magazine.  Thus XDm-40 has a 16rd capacity.  There is no way to make that wider XDm magazines backwards compatible with the the narrower XD frame.

The XD-45 and XDm-45 share magazines. XD-45ACP (not XD-45GAP ) was a new larger frame and used a correctly proportioned 45 ACP magazine and thus was also used in the XDm-45 which uses a different frame than the XDm-9 and XDm-40 that share a frame.

Does anyone know if these have the same trigger as the XDM?  I really liked the trigger in the XDM I fondled but my only complaint was the grip.... looks like the XD Mod.2 5" is just the ticket I wanted.

I had my hands on a mod 2 SC not long ago. The trigger felt a little crisper at the break, similar to an xds but not as heavy. I can't imagine they're doing anything different in the full size. It felt pretty awesome.

Im selling a Gen 2 G23, waiting for the mod 2 big boy in 9.

I added some skate grip tape on the grip. I made myself a little pattern and cut it out. I should have taken a little more time doing it but I think it turned out decent.
