I recently purchased a xds .45 and discovered a major flaw.
When fired to slide lock, the trigger does not rebound and as
a consequence impinges on the magazine release to the point
of being very difficult to release the magazine. There is visible
movement of the trigger while depressing the mag release.
I called Springfield and sent the gun in to be looked at, I was
informed that this is the way it is supposed to work. I consider this to
be a possibly fatal flaw of the design, if you want to do a rapid reload, you
will need two hands to drop the mag.

Hadn't noticed because it's so ridiculously accurate and reliable.

That may be true, but the restricted mag release is a no go for me

Interesting, I actually had to go and check mine. If I keep my finger squeezed on the trigger it is in fact extremely hard to remove the mag. With that said, I just don't see how that is an issue, my trigger finger comes off the trigger during a reload.

Not really, I don't have my finger on the trigger either.

So if you apply no pressure on the trigger the mag release binds due to the trigger interfering? How many rounds are through it? I do remember my trigger and mag release beings stiffer when my gun was new, it did softened up nicely after about 1k rounds though, maybe this is what you are experiencing? I have zero issues dropping an empty mag with a my thumb on my XDS fyi.
