I just bought an XDS 45 yesterday.  What kind of carry ammo do you guys like in yours?  I've always used Gold Dots in all of my carry guns and was thinking of doing the same with this.  I just saw a YouTube video comparing standard 230gr GD and short-barreled GDs, with the difference being minimal.

43 views; no one carries their XDS?    Just want to know if anyone has found any ammo theirs does not like.

I carry the Hornady Critical Defense 185gr.  I'm going to pick up a box of Federal HST +P, Winchester PDX, and Winchester Ranger to try out.

No, that's great, thanks for the reply!  Thanks all of you- that self-defense ammo is so friggin' pricey I wanted to get something that folks' guns seem to like.  Obviously, there's always a small chance it could be finicky with any ammo, but trying to whittle down options is never a bad thing.

Dang, no need to get pissy. I carry 125 grain Gold Dots in mine, but you might observe some pressure signs if you shoot them in yours.

Take a look at this:
AR15.com Defensive Ammo

I don't think PDX1 was tested, which is what I will load in my XDs9 when it gets broken in. Luckily, I don't think the XDs is ammo picky by any means.

Well, I was planning on running Gold Dots through it, but I couldn't find any.

Ended up going with 230gr Hydra Shocks.  No failures, so that's what's in it.

I carry Hornady Critical Defense or Critical Duty (whichever I can get a hold of, it'll run both) in mine. During the ammo shortage, I ran Federal Guard Dog through it. It ran it just fine as well.

That is beautiful, although I doubt you would get such perfomance out of the XDS 3.3" barrel.

Hornady 185 grain XTP, although I havent found anything it wont shoot, I seem to group best with these.  YMMV.

My 9mm XDs doesn't like Critical Duty. The little polymer piece gets caught on the feed ramp and the round won't go into the chamber. FWIW

I carry mine with HSTs and my full size 45 XD has HSTs as well.

230gr. HST standard pressure. A few vids on youtube show the 230gr. HST and Talon round doing very well from a XDS in gel with 4 layers of denim.

I too am using the Critical Duty from Hornady.  I used to have Gold Dots in the 1911 that I used to carry before getting the XDS.
