Are you saying that it's difficult to fully insert with the slide closed, or does it happen with the slide locked back as well? It sounds like it's only happening with the slide closed. Are those rounds noticeably more difficult to load in to the magazine than with your higher cap mags? If you're having issues with the slide open, then you may have a problem with the dimensions of the mag (though I've never heard of this happening).
It sounds like your mag springs are a bit too strong. I'd give SA a call on this one, to see what they say. SA customer service is usually excellent. Perhaps they could send you a replacement mag spring. From your post, that seems to be the culprit. The rounds should not be seated so tightly in the mag that it requires a nudge to put the slide in battery. Dropping a full loaded mag (on a closed slide) should be a LITTLE more difficult than an empty mag or open slide. The rounds are pushing up against the bottom of the slide, and creating tension between the mag retaining assembly and the mag itself. There will be some friction involved in pushing the button. Seating a mag on a closed slide is much the same. By seating the mag, you're pushing the rounds down in the mag just a little bit further, so you need an extra little tap. This is normal. It sounds like what you have is excessive, however. |

Yes only happens with the slide closed. It's also very difficult to insert the last round. I'll give SA a call and see what they can do. Thanks

In my mags it was suggested that I load the mags and let them sit for a day or two. It worked in my case.
I don't understand what you said about nine round mags; my xdm 45 compact mags hold ten rounds. |

I had the same problem. It got better with time. I read somewhere that Springfield was replacing the mags for a few folks and it worked out for them. A couple weeks ago I purchased a new mag off the rack at PSA and it works perfectly. I think Springfield had a bad batch of magazines that got released with the XDM 3.8 .45.'s.
