THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT He doesn't like the .45 because of the cost of the ammo. Both are as new and shot very little. He only has 3 mags, I have six. I am only giving 3 in the trade in hopes of getting an XDm 9 at some point. I already have a Springfield Range Officer and I load for almost every pistol caliber. I have no "defensive size" or compact size pistols. My thoughts are to make the trade for a more powerful competition size, high cap pistol and buy a XDm 9 with a 3-4 inch barrel. Any thoughts or experiences with the XDm .45? |

I don't have an "M" in 45 but I do have a service model XD 45 and an XDm9. Between the two I prefer the 45 and shoot it even better than the 9. If I had to choose between the two I would go with the 45. Since you reload the cost of ammo shouldn't be an issue. I haven't looked at the price comparison between a "comp" and a straight XDm but I'm digging my 45. See if you can shoot it first and then determine if it's something you want vs. just the idea of it.

Either one is good ! I went with the 9xdm 5.25 just for the price of ammo , planning on shooting steel with it -going thru lots of ammo. Just depends on what you plan on doing with it.

I reload(which puts me on the pages w/you). I second your plan of attack including the mag holdback.
Have you fired, or at least dryfired the xdm45? Mine had a horrible trigger but I dropped in a prp trigger and it improved greatly. My xdm 9 and 40 had great stock triggers but not the 45. Get it and enjoy it. |
