thanks bro!
since it lists both xd/xdm 4 inch, would you imagine 1/2 inch of barrel(stainless)would be okay?
if the fit for my xdm isn't great i can give it to my son who just qualified for ccw yesterday and has my xd40.

I have been carrying my XD .45 service model (4 inch barrel) in one of these for 2 years. It works great for me.

IWB holster

I like the adjustable angle on that one. Does it hold the angle on your belt fairly well? Mine doesn't have the adjustment screw either, but if it did I would adjust it to be like mine is now. It's perfect. Blackhawk makes good stuff. One thing I did with mine was sprayed the inside good with some silicone. It was like it was completely broken in instantly.

You should try one of these: Extremely Comfortable IWB!

I have an original that I carry my Para P13-45 in. Love it. The Professional series is new, just found out about those, will probably be getting one of those next, as my one complaint about the original was lack of way to adjust the cant of the firearm.

Yes, the snap has Velcro where it attaches to the holster, the screw holds it nice and snug. I put some blue locktite on it years ago when I adjusted it and haven't touched it since. Sorry, I don't know how to quote a previous post in my response.

I may have to upgrade.

Wow, very nice. It's a shame to conceal that one. It's shiny!

DeSantis makes similar holsters for half the price. They look pretty nice and comfy!

Don Hume Also makes good stuff. I got my wife one for her PM9, and it's very nice. I hadn't looked at their XD stuff, but it looks like they have a wide selection.

Similar? The only similarity I see is they're IWB holsters. How are they similar?

Not saying DeSantis doesn't make good stuff... but this is a hand-crafted, small shop holster that is obviously built with love... I'm sure it's worth every penny. Look at all of the double-stitching. Check out his construction methods. This holster will last forever.

By similar I mean leather IWB with double belt loops. Both holsters will do the same thing, one just costs twice as much. Don't get me wrong, I understand the difference in individual attention and craftsmanship, that is a great looking holster. I'm just suggesting something that will fill the same role and costs a little less.

Gotcha. The design is way different, with the belt loops spread out on either side, rather than just right next to each other. I think that's a pretty big design difference, which is where I was going.

great input guys!
one thing i didn't think about; retention.

yesterday i was on 610 north, just before 290 splits off(6-8 freeway for those who don't know), i see a bike coming up. fast. shirt lifting up in back; pistol plainly visible-not strapped down.

i guess having a strap/thumbbreak kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

carry on!

Actually, with a little practice, a thumb break doesn't slow you down at all. Your thumb has to go where the snap is, whether there's a snap there or not. But a good holster will retain the pistol without one (not counting motorcycle wrecks). I can hold mine upside down and shake it and the pistol will not come out. Because of the way the leather is molded around the gun, it's like it goes into a detent when it's fully seated. As soon as it starts to come out, it pulls very easily.

If you are carrying IWB the pressure between your belt and your body should be more than sufficient unless you plan on doing a lot of cartwheels! Like ske714 said, the fact that the leather is molded for the pistol gives pretty good grip but still allows for a smooth draw stroke once it is broken in. My Blackhawk IWB holster does have an adjustable tension screw, I have not had to adjust it since I started carrying almost three years ago.

I've been carrying a XD45c in a MTAC for a couple years. No complaints.
