Nice KC; looks exactly like mine. Sucks Colt doesn't make revolvers anymore, but then again, I am starting to collect S&W revolvers

Thanks. I love my King Cobra. It's probably my fav. revolver I have, and it shoots like dream. If Colt would've continued to make them I wouldn't think twice about carrying it.

I can't wait to start collecting some Smith & Wesson's soon. Unfortunately it may be a little while longer before I can get one though.

I received a great annual bonus at my work a few years back, so I decided I wanted a "unique" completely impractical big bore range toy. After much research, I did not disappoint in my decision. The 12" 460 XVR S&W mag, she packs a nasty wallop  ;)

I have been watching for one of these for years, and found one Monday at a small town Arkansas pawn shop.  I believe this is an early gun, possibly one of the Jovino conversions.

Astra 44 Magnum, is not marked TERMINATOR anywhere.  This one has a frame profile more like a S&W than others I've seen.

It does have Pachmayr compact grips, barrel length is just a hair over 2 3/4 inches.

Five screw type frame, there is a screw underneath in front of the triggerguard.

Pinned barrel, and front sight base

Recessed chambers

No bluing on the crown, this is what makes me think it could have been a cut down Jovino gun.

The rear sight is broken, I'm going to have to find a replacement, or more likely have this one welded up.  Lockup is very tight, when the hammer is cocked this is no movement of the cylinder at all.  I'm anxious to shoot it.

Inherited this one from my dad.  An unknown smith did a great action job on it - trigger breaks like a very thin icicle. Thinking I'll shoot a deer with it this year, in his honor.

Looks like you've got a set of eBay Thailand grips on it, how do you like them?

Thanks! PSA had them on sale for $349 so I couldn't pass up an upgrade over my 642. The grips are amazing, especially for the price.

This is my Smith & Wesson 629-4 .44 MAGNUM from the Performance Center. I traded a 92F Beretta for it about 10 years ago. Little did I know what it was actually worth at the time...

Letter From Lew Horton -

"This gun is one of 583 units produced under SKU number 170046. This run Model 629
was manufactured by Smith & Wesson and delivered to Lew Horton Distributing
from 1996 to 1998. Your gun was delivered to Lew Horton’s in October of 1996.

There were 111 units in the 1996 run that had the “LHG” serial number prefix."

My Redhawk after the removal of the lawyer speak.

Way easier said than done.  Once I removed the roll marks I realized how scuffed, scratched and tool marked, the revolver really was/is.  I should go over it again.  But I got so tired of sanding I gave up.  Once cleaned, I rubbed it down with Mother's.  I might hit it with a buffing wheel.  Waaay easier than sanding.

Not sure I'd do it again knowing what I went through but now I'm pleased with the results.
