I hope CZ is paying attention to the revolver revival now that they own Colt and Dan Wesson.  Make Dan Wesson great again!

Two .44 Specials I picked up today.  I made the mistake of buying the Ruger in a FTF sale in a parking lot of a strip mall that had a gun shop.  Went into the gun shop after and found the 296 Airlite I just had to have.

Picked up three Smith’s from a collector in Texas. All Performance Center guns. A fixed sight 629 .44, a 19 .357 and 66 .357. Each have the 3” barrel with integral muzzle port.

I also managed to get a Model 25 barrel a while back. Now the question is, have the Anaconda barrel installed on my Alaskan, or find a model 29 and convert it to .45 colt? The goal is a tuned, properly chambered, 4" .45 colt. With some custom touches. At the end of the day, I'd be time and money ahead just buying a mountain gun, but that's less fun.

I’ve got a 4” .45 Anaconda barrel picked up on EBay. I’ve been toying with the idea of finding a stainless S&W in 45 Colt to make a custom.

I've never seen an N frame Smolt, but I bet it would be cool. You lose close to 2" when setting the barrel up for the conversion from what I've heard, so it would be a snubby.

I wouldn't think there would be much loss at all as the barrel threads are the same from what I've read, but reality may be different. Finding a proper donor Smith M25/ .45 Colt is an issue though as they're pricey. You don't see any rebuild candidates come up for sale, at least I haven't. I thought about doing the conversion on a Redhawk also, that would be more affordable if they're compatible.

I think the loss comes from having to cut off the portion with the ejector rod slot, as they don't line up. That may just be for Rugers though. Use a 629 as the donor, that way you ensure proper chamber spec and they are more commonly available. Reaming the chamber isn't an expensive job when considering the other work.
