I've posted these things before, but I think I'm finally done messing with them. Barrels were shortened and set back to get the cylinder gap at a tad over 0.004. One got it's yoke stretched out a bit. Home bead blast job. I gave up on finding wood grips that I like so cheap Hogues for now. Me and my son took them out and beat on them pretty good. I think I've got the sights pretty well regulated. It's not often I don't dick something like this up good so I'm happy to present the finished result here to arf:

And one of the new revolver fan:

I'm sure there are gunsmiths out there that can do that kind of work but there sure aren't many advertising. It's probably a lot more lucrative to knock new sights into glocks and install rails on AR's I guess. Someday I'd like to get an FFL and tinker with revolvers for more than a hobby.

If you get someone local to do it, it might be worth it to supply them with the sight vs going the route I did. Machining the sight and dovetailing it in was the bulk of the work. Someone with a dovetail cutter and an already finished sight could knock it out a lot quicker. I was showing the smith up the road who did the transfers how they turned out and mentioned what a PITA the sights were and he says "shit I have every type of dovetail cutter you could ever want ...why didn't you ask"

Today's acquisition

Very nice double action trigger. Didn't have any magnums with me but she is a sweet shooter with my Skeeter level specials. Will see how she does with magnums next weekend.

I've got to get a revolver family pic for this thread.  In the meantime, the last "bargain" revolver I picked up was an Astra Police 3"  This gun is great.  Nice shooting, pinned and recessed and not much beats a heavy 3" revolver for looks.

For $250 out the door, it was an excellent value.  I see revolvers most usuallyat or over $1k in shops all the time which makes me value my Smith Collection, but disappointing I don't find bargain revolvers much anymore at shops.

The top three, the 686-2, the 60, and the 37 are all former police duty guns. The 37 and 60 came from GT Distributors in Rossville, GA. The 686 rode in my Dad's duty holster for ten years.

Just picked up this S&W 386PD. It’s crazy how light this thing is, it’s definitely going to be a handful shooting it lol

I don't love putting 357 through it, but it's not punishing.

A little update on a couple of my Pythons. The newer 3” stainless got a new set of Williams sights, red fiber optic and U shaped rear sight notch. I also found a set of new/old stock Colt Pachmeyers. It’ll be my woods gun, riding ina DeSantis leather pancake holster. The older blue 2” just got a set of stags.

How well do old Pachmayrs hold up?  I used to run em on my 20 ga 870 Youth pumps as a car gun.  Do they eventually harden up or go gooey like some old rubber does?

I’ve used Pach’s for years, never had an issue with degradation.

Is that Smith a 10-10 or a model 19? Some sort of 13?

Picked up this pro series last week after hearing a member here saying how much better the trigger is out of the box, whoever you are thank you,you were spot on! The machining on the ejector and cylinder looks really good to me. It's not my first 442 and I missed it for summer carry.

This is actually the 4" version.  I only had a SAA 357 and figured I needed somethign I can really have fun reloading for.  Its a tank.  And the double action trigger is not bad at all.
