I got this for $650. It is a 45 Colt 25-5 with a 6" barrel.

Barely a scratch on it, but what made me want it was the trigger. This thing rivals my Python. It is smooth as silk. Just plain sexy.
I'd like to get some wood-medallion grips for it. Like it should have.

Considering not having the original grips, I'd say you paid a fair price. Not a steal, but fair.

Decent price on a fairly uncommon Smith.  Factory grips will run you $70 or $80.

Keep your loads reasonable.  The 25 isn't built for hot rodding like a Redhawk is.

I highly recommend Cullina Grips.

I have many pairs and the shape, fit and quality of wood is excellent.  Prices are reasonable.  Nice people to deal with as well.

I paid about $800.00 out the door for my 4" with factory target grips, last year. So from my perspective your price was just right.

You did really good OP... And in a Man's caliber too! Love me some .45LC... With in introduction of Buffalo Bore and quite a bit of info on a few really good hand loads and the LC outperforms .44Mag... Very versatile caliber. Check out Altamontco.com for grips as they have a great selection. I got two pair of Rosewood "Combat" grips there for my Model 36 "J" frames that are just as comfortable and good looking as they come! Nice piece you got there!

You can't push 45 Colt to .44 Magnum velocities in a S&W, like you can in a Ruger, and why would you want to?
Part of the beauty of the 45 Colt is that it is such a pussy cat to shoot, yet still delivers 250+ grains of love.
If you are looking for .44 Magnum power, shoot a .44 Magnum.  It only seems logical to me.

Beautiful gun sir, you did well.

You did very well. I'd pick up some speedloaders and have fun smashing plates in quick time with the double action trigger on that beauty. For now my 29 and moderate handloads will have to do.

Did good, I haven't seen one around here in a while, when I did they were roughly $850.
