Thank you Smith and Wesson for such a beautiful revolver . My model 22-4 has a sweet trigger in single action making it easy to hit where I want to .
I prefer auto rim with the 255 g bullet but she shoots the .45 acp with moon clips just as well . This revolver shoots the best of all the wheels guns in the collection .

Title update . Let's hear about your Model 1917

1917s are just great revolvers.  Looks, accuracy and power in an easily accessible cartridge.  Here are my two S&W 1917s, a post WWII pre-22, and a Colt 1917.

The post war model is my favorite shooter, but that may be due to the magnas softening the recoil which can sneak up on you with the service stocks.  I've never tried the Autorim, but got into reloading last year so maybe I'll order some brass.

The Colt is a neat piece, but it is a larger and heavier revolver.  The single action trigger is nice and crisp, but the double action is horrible, very heavy and stacks terribly.  It is easy to see why the Colt New Service has been long gone and the N-frame smith remains king of the hill.

I will say the Colt has a cool look to it that is distinctively vintage Colt.

Long story on this one. As near as I can tell, it started out as some variant of a 1950. It had been round-butted, and had the cylinder deepened for .45 LC, as well as having the forcing cone shaved. The firing pin was broken also. I had it rebarreled, and a new cylinder/ejection rod put on, and the firing pin replaced. I also bought some new grips for it. It is built on a five screw "S" frame.

This is a post WW 2  commercial model of 1917. The previous owner had back strap groved and front sight notched. I have a few 45 Auto Rim rounds then will; switch to 45 ACP with 1/2 moon clips.

Gee, I hope they're not too hot.  I occasionally put .45 Supers through mine.

230 gr @ 1100 fps.

No ill effects so far.  It is an N frame.

Though, the Super cases have a thicker brass in the web area to handle the extra pressure.  I know nothing about Auto Rim cases.

I recently acquired a Brazilian 1917. It's very well used. But I like it. I need to clean it up some. It has new/old stock grips on it at the moment, but it came with the original grips, a pile of moon clips and a repro holster.

I probably won't shoot it too much. It's the grandfather of my 25-2 and 25-5. The 25-2 is probably my favorite gun to shoot. I really should get a family picture.
