How in the majestic fuck is this possible, and I demand more pics! Is that the factory cylinder?!
|
|
Clement's (David?) Removes the barrel and ships it out to be bored to .400 and I had him slab side it. He bores out the factory cylinder, sets the cylinder gap to .005 and checks the timing. Mills the cylinder to fit moon clips. I also had him do a trigger job on it. Double action is set to 8 pounds and single action to 2.5 pounds.
I bought the revolver new off of GunBroker and had it shipped directly to him.Today was the first time I ever saw the revolver. He received it end of May and shipped at the end of last week to my dealer. Who by the way is very jealous. |

Very nice! I have a S&W 610. 10mm/40S&W revolvers are very nice!

I wanted a 610 but the price of them has gotten so high it's crazy. I got super luck about ten years ago. Local Gander Mountain had a used 610 (no dash) with a 6.5 inch barrel. I got it for $520. |

I have had a hankering to get that treatment for a GP for years now. Very nice gun, someday I hope I get one with a four inch barrel.

A touch over 1K for all the work not including the cost of the revolver.

10mm in a revolver interests me. But that AR in 10mm interests me more. Got plans to SBR it in the future?

Badass!
Perfect application for the GP 100 IMO-its too big/bulky for .357. |
|
Very nice! I like the slab side barrel too. When I had my conversion done I asked Clements about slabbing the barrel gp100 3", and got no response. So I had one of the machinists where I work slab it. Then the factory front sight was to tall so I cut a shorter no snag, rounded sight (think old s&w style) at work and now could not be happier with the out come. I notice now he's offering the slab side and a new front sight!

Tax stamp and new uppers. I really like the 16" barrel in 10mm, it gains fps pretty well. The .45 not so much, so I might just have it rebarreled when I'm ready. |

Interesting... but why? There are obviously superior cartridges for a revolver.

It has a wide range of bullet weights available and numerous powders. I have .22lr & wmr, .38spl, .357 and .44 magnum revolvers, this is something different. I appreciate different. |

10mm trail ammo is way easier to find some places than .357 or .41. That alone could make this a great choice for backwoods. View Quote Maybe for you, but I have yet to come across a gun store that stocked 10mm but didn't have at least one box of .41 on the shelf...and they all have .357 Mag ammo. Beautiful gun, interesting conversion on a GP100. I've toyed with the idea of sending him a Blackhawk, just can't convince myself to spend the money...yet. I really want a slicked up Bisley 5.5" in .41 Mag, but prices are getting crazier and crazier. Guess I need to go ahead and do it now, prices are only going up. |

OP: Have you chrono'd any ammo or loads out of the revolver? I've always wondered how the 10 would perform our of a revolver was compared to an auto. I figure it has to lose some velocity due to cylinder gap.

I figure it has to lose some velocity due to cylinder gap. View Quote You might loose ~50 fps due to cylinder gap depending on gap dimension, powder and bullet weight. http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/gaptests.html <-- cool data testing the effect of cylinder gap. But remember a GP100 with a 6 inch barrel is a lot longer effective barrel than a 6 in semi auto. A revolver barrel is measured from the front of the cylinder where a semi auto is measured from the breach face. Measure a 6-inch GP100 from the breach face and that suddenly become a 7.6 inch equivalent barrel length. My favorite load in my 6.5 inch S&W 610 is pushing 180gr XTP bullet at 1300fps. |

I've got a 310 Night Guard that I love. 10 mm revolvers are neat.

I can find .357 magnum even at Walmart but 10mm ammo is very hard to find out in the wild and has to be special ordered or just ordered myself online. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Bet you could find some cheap plinking .40 though. Its way more available then 38 around here and cheaper too. |

Very cool OP, I have a Buckeye Blackhawk in 10mm that I love to shoot.

Very nice! I'm a 10mm fan myself and have a Glock 20 and MP5 in 10mm. A 10mm revolver would be tits!
