Just like the title says. Looking for some owner input on the round. It has piqued my interest, in particular in this platform.

I've done some reading up on it, but would really like some first hand experience to reference.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I reload a bit. However, I would be picking up dies if I purchased this piece. Don't have an intended use in mind. I wouldn't mind taking game with it further up North since our deer down here are laughable, but other than a hiking/camping gun it is more of a "Just because" type of purchase.

I will be once the one I have on order arrives!

I'll mostly shoot it at the range and if I am lucky a bear or a deer.

Wish it was blued!

I have one in a raging bull.  Ammo is expensive, but to me it's a good round. Bigger than most and not so big to require a bigger frame.

How do you like the Raging Bull?

That was the other platform I was looking at in 480.

For me it's been great.  Cylinders seem to line up nice, goes bang, feels solid.

Tier one arfcommers will disagree, but I'm common folk.

I definitely like the lines of them. Plus, factory porting seems awfully nice of them

What did you order?

Lipseys super Blackhawk, I've seen a few on gunbroker but wanted give the business to my local dealer. It sounds like they've been shipping so I expect it soon.

If you don't mind, I'd like to hear your opinion on it once you receive it. Plus the normal request for pictures

Here you go TX_Metal.

No shots fired yet! Hope to get it out after the new year, by then I'll have some brass and the cast bullets I ordered.

Metal fit and finish is pretty good, the grips are not great which seems to be a complaint across the series. I plan on putting something else on for grips just not sure what yet as well as some type of blackened finish.

Looks great

Let me know what you find grip wise. I've heard the same complaint about the factory grips from a few different websites.

I am thinking real hard about the same Blackhawk. I have always been interested in the 480. I like that style of cartridge. Plenty of power without having to work too hard at the bleeding edge of pressure.

I have so much 44 brass, and bullet molds, I like 44mag

with max loads,...good enough for anything that walks or crawls around here

hand me that can of H-110

I have a lot of experience with the 480 Ruger, the 454 Casull and the 475 Linebaugh as well as most of the other large revolvers and personally I think the 480 Ruger is the most logical of the bunch and the Bisley is a perfect place to put it.
It is at its best with the 370 grain bullets and recoil is easily manageable by most anyone, with the 400 grain bullet most people won't like it at all and its really not needed anyway.

You can easily get to 1300 fps with good lead in that gun however recoil becomes some what heavier than most people care for, I liked the 370 grain lead it was plenty strong and recoil was very manageable.
