Just came home with a brand new S&W 617. I was just in there lookin around and stumbled on to it. Guy said only been there couple days and he only had the one. Always wanted one and he made me a great cash deal so I bought it. NOW,   i have an issue. ZThe gun is just great but I can't find a speedloader for it.  All my others are HK's but they dont list one for this gun. Anybody know where I might find a couple for a 10 shot 22 revolver like this 617 ???

Hey thanks a bunch, I couldn't find anything. Looks likw the colors are just a matter of taste. They are the sae price which seems a bit steep but when you don't have another option it's either pay up or do without. I think I will pay up for a couple. Thanks again for the onfo...

I bought it new for $628.00 plus tax  is the reason i went a head and bought it. He said if I had cash and luckily I did. Figuring S&W's current price gouging I thought it was a really good deal. Never shed a tear. Just put 100 rounds of CCI Mini-Mag Hollow Points through and I ws very pleased. Have not hung a target out to 50 yards yet but I couldn't miss blowing pop cans off the rack I hav out there. I want to hang a target out there and rest the gun and see what it will really do that far.

So, you don't know how to post pics, you don't know how to take them very well either, but you certainly can pick a good gun.

Have no idea how to post pics on this forum, and your also right about taking them. I have a cheap little digital camera hear  and I'm sure it could take better pics if someone else was behind the button. I have over 60 handguns here andat one time or another have taken pics of everyone and none of the pics were any better quality than those. Thank you very much for posting them for me..

A 617 is a great revolver. I've always preferred the 4" lengths of the 6XX's for balance sans the J frame ones. Any longer and they get a bit nose heavy. I also don't care much for the rubber boot grips Smith puts on them either. A bit clunky for me and I much prefer to take advantage of the round butt aspects of them. An overall better grip for me, gives more of a roll like a six shooter but I like that. JETA: I also remove the black smug finish on the hammers and finish it to a deep black on the triggers. Somehow the factory job just makes it look fired.

Lowest is a 617 with it's brothers a 686 and a 629 on top. There's a 642 floating around also. Best thing is they all feel the same by weight and balance and ergo's so jumping from one to the other at the range is no problem.

I really like the 6" Model 19 I have, but it definitely feels front heavy.  I think a 4" balances nicer too.  But a 6" might make it easier to shoot accurately.

I have a 4" but prefer a 5" bbl on a game gun.
I would really like to buy a 6" and have it slab sided and cut to 5".
617 pro series is what I really want.
you listening S&W????

I can be on board with that.  3" for a carry gun and 5" for the rest.  But it doesn't usually work that way......

Those are bad ass--might have to see about getting one myself if I get the chance. Saw one in the store a while back but its gone already.
