Timing is slick and no end shake. Solid.

Great CCW/Combat Piece.

Awesome.  You will love it.
As far as the no pin barrel, maybe the barrel was replaced at some point in it's life.

I think it was a transitional model between the switch in 1982. I know S&W has a habit of using up all remaining parts until they're exhausted. Could have been the cylinder was from a batch of pre '82 runs and was in the parts bin. I haven't dated the gun yet simply due to my book is 500 miles away from me at the moment.

Those frickin grips are worth about half of that.  Eh?  You scored, big time.  Looks like there is a bit of damage or somebody doing some kind of something on the top strap though.....  Not that that is a big deal.

You get bonus points for it being DAO.  You lucky basdage.

I would pay more than $200.00 for that.

Holster wear on the top strap. No damage. Mothers Polish, 3M pad, and more polish will fix that right up.

My late father was issued a 3" M65 back when he was in detectives at Topeka PD. When he retired he bought it from the department for a whole $125. That was December 1990.

You freaking stole that gun for $200. You sure the forcing cone's okay? No cracks or pieces missing? i bought a M65 4" years ago that had a chunk of the cone missing.

I would have totally bought that for more!

Nice score for $200. Our LGS carries a lot of PD trades, and has had a number of 65's. They've been selling for around $300, which is still a fair price considering how popular they are.

Mine isn't as clean as yours, but it's mechanically sound.

I went old school with stags and a grip adapter. Here it's paired with my somewhat rare 3" Model 632 (.32 Magnum.)

I like 3" wheelguns.

I saw S&W K-frame round butt combat grips offered for $175.00 on the S&W forum once in the recent past...for about twenty seconds.

Good find! I only paid $200.00 for my 3 inch Model 13-3...15 or 20 years ago!

That is 200 bucks worth of Solid Victory.

I love a K frame.  A tuned DA only K frame even more.

The trigger pull can be as slick as snot on a doorknob.
