I have a chance to pick up a Dan Wesson 44V 6" for about $500. No box, no tools. Overall good condition with some mark on the front of the barrel.

Id grab it, the DW 44s are great shooters.

$500...that's a pretty good price.

That's a bargain and you can still get barrels and shrouds easily enough for the 44. I'd buy it.

These are the pics that the seller sent me today.

Check out CZ USA.  They are making Dan Wesson parts/barrels and revolvers again.

I almost ( I screwed up, I should have ordered it) ordered a 6" heavy vent rib barrel for mine back in December when they had that sale.  I just don't shoot it enough to make it worth it.

I was looking at those. $300 for a 6" VH, and then tools on top of that. That's proced about $100 more than my DW .357 15VH was.

IMHO one of the finest 44s and an excellent price...

I ended up trading my HK45 for the DW 44 plus a nice amount of cash on his end, box of ammo, and a gun guard pistol case for it. So it worked out for me just fine.

I noticed the barrel and shroud have some wiggle to it. My Dan Wesson 15 .357 did not. I'm guessing it just needs to be tightened a bit more.

I thought it was a stainless gun until I saw the "silver" flaking off.  Would look awesome with a full underlug but that's just me.  I've never heard anything bad about Dan Wesson guns, I think you made a fantastic deal.  I like it!  Congrats!

Stainless Monson .44 for $500, I'd have bought it.

Looking at the barrel it appears to be a matte nickle though. (definitely would have bought it)

You can get a new build barrel tool from EWK arms.

Thanks for the link.

I thought they only had these in stainless and blued finishes. I don't think it was refinished, although I may be wrong. Now I just need to save up some money for a new barrel and some ammo. I'm thinking either full 6" or 4"

44 Remington Magnum +P+ 340 Grain Lead Flat Nose Gas Check
6" is a nice compromise.  You might look into replating...

It's a Dan Wesson Model 44 from 1981, a refinished blued gun. A stainless DW .44 Magnum (Model 744) would have an S/N starting with SB... or 44S...

I'm not convinced of that.

My Palmer guns have a serial number that start with either S (stainless) or B (blued).  None of my Monson guns have a letter in their serial numbers.

Yes, that would look mighty fine in a shiny nickle. Might need some shade though, on a sunny day.

Color case harden the hammer and trigger. That looks good with nickle.
