You might be able to find a Ruger SP101 3" in that rough price range. I just picked up a Smith J frame 60-9 357 off of GB for $485, it had a 2 1/4" barrel. The Ruger is a bit heavier and thicker than the Smiths but are great guns, have one for my wife and she loves it.

Also keep an eye out for a used Ruger speed six or security six.
Nice guns. Well built like most Rugers are. |

I have a 3" GP100 that would be ideal but finding one for that money is going to be muey difficult.

might also look into the S&W model 60 in 357.
Its not the tank that the sp101 is but is a better option if your going to carry it. if you planning on just taking it to the range then id get the sp101 |

S&W Model 65 or 13 3" is what you're looking for. K frames conceal well, have better triggers than j frames and are down right sexy. Once I get time Warner o fix my nterwebz at home I'll post a few pics...

Find a 3" S&W md.13 trade in, have it round butted when you have the money...project completed.
I'm looking at buying a 13 and a 65 from the same guy at some point...carried everyday, shot rarely. I wish they were 4" but hey... |

I have a 3" SP101. Great shooting gun, but heavy and bulky for CCW. Would be ok as a pocket gun for a winter jacket, but that's a lot of weight to be banging around. Ruger makes the LCR in .357 also, but I imagine that would be painful to shoot.

I wish they were 4" but hey... 3" Smiths will already be round butts from the factory. If you really prefer a 4" over a 3", I'd be more than willing to trade you. IMO, the 3" K-Frame is the best factory carry revolver out there. |

Cannot go wrong with Ruger SP101. A bit heavy, but then again, so is the .357. GREAT revolvers.

It's just enough larger than a J-Frame to make it easy to shoot and just enough smaller than a K-Frame to make it even easier to conceal. And they're built heavy enough so you can shoot Magnums through it and never wear it out. |

I picked up a used Police model 65-3 3" a couple of weeks ago....$375. Was carried some and shot ...never from the looks of it. I had a local Smith look at it and bead blast, he said it was perfect and looked unfired. No carbon or flame cutting... The frame, well I had it bead blasted.... They are out there if you look. I carry it a Galco FLTECH holster with Remington Saber 125grain JHPs. Picks when I get a chance.

Charter Arms? Alot of people shy away from them, but mine has been flawless so far through around 120 rounds of 44spl. Wouldn't use it as a volume shooter, but I do not worry about it working when I carry it. I also have a Ruger SP101 in 357 that has always served me well. Do not see them for $300 very often...

Yup, SP101 is a very good choice. I like mine. Have a 2 1/4 DAO model. Get a good holster for it, and it's a fine carry gun.
