Yes, I installed myself. It was no problem - it was as simple as taking it apart and putting it back together - took about 30 minutes...

The company made a ton of interesting guns and then disappeared after making some kind of stupid little plastic pistol that seemed to be based on the guts of a Ruger 10-22 rifle. Then they disappeared completely. Perhaps somebody more knowledgeable can recount the end of this company. To complete the story, I ordered this gun with the same serial number as the (1894) revolver that belonged to my great-great grandfather. I always wanted to shoot his, but it is a black powder frame and it just didn't seem worth it to stress the old girl after, oh, eighty years in the safe. Needless to say, the finish looks a lot better on my gun then his old Colt, and the new revolver is a ton of fun to shoot and the sort of distressed finish seems to hold up nicely. His was a .44-40. I ordered mine in .44 Special for cheaper plinking. Here he is with his revolver as a comparison of real wear vs. manufactured patina: https://i.imgur.com/a6u706ah.jpg https://i.imgur.com/KVy71Fvh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/2E2KiHJh.jpg View Quote Yours is gorgeous - thanks for sharing the story! |

Found a pair of used SAA wooden grips I liked. They didn't look like this when I bought them; I refinished them, restained them (tiger stripe is though original to the wood).

There are some beautiful guns and some great photography in this thread. Just what I need... I've already been into revolvers more lately, but most of mine are double actions. Now I think I need to be on the lookout for more single actions!
SoloDallas, I like you man. I just discovered this thread and read through it all today, loved your story. You are a true Patriot; more American than most people I know who were born and raised here. I think I speak for us all when I say I'm proud to have you with us. If you ever make it back to Texas come down by Houston and we'll go shoot some guns. Yours are beautiful, by the way. |

Cimarron/Pedersoli 1873?
At the 2016 SHOT show, Pedersoli announced they would be offering (in cooperation with Cimarron) a new version of the SA 1873 revolver, called the Pedersoli SASS 1873 Custom revolver. There is a Youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3cbp4zG8kc I can't find out whether these were ever made, or when they may be available. Anybody heard anything? I don't see anything on the Pedersoli website. |

I hauled hay all through school summer vacation to buy this Colt .357 in 1979. This is the gun that made me learn to reload so I could shoot more and I wish I knew how many rounds have gone through it. It had some pretty strong finish wear going on and Dad sent it back to Colt for a refinish while I was off playing Army in the 80's. If I could only have one handgun it would be this one.
