Local shop has one, used with 2 mags for $230.  Its the DC model, blued, with wear on slide finish.  Thinking I might FO if he'll go $220ish OTD.

Well, I got it today.  Traded an old Mossberg 500 that I had $120 into and a $20 bill and walked out with the P97, case, and two mags.  Might get the slide cerakoted by my local guy.  Not sure yet.  Pics later.

Not a bad deal.  Rugers should last forever.

ETA:  $140?  That's a great deal.

I'm an odd ball. I like the Ruger P series pistols. They may not be tactical but the just work. I like that one too, nice deal

Yeah, they aren't nearly as bad looking as some people like to scream that they are.  I weighed this gun vs my 5" 1911 and it was over 10 oz lighter!!!

I have a P85, my first pistol that I bought in the 80s. At that time dad reloaded for pennies a round. I must have shot 5k without cleaning. Dad saw the gun one of the times we were out and gave me the made me clean it before he would give me any ammo

All P97s are decockers.

I had a P345. Nice gun, sold it for more than I had in it. The P Series guns are good guns.

The perfect trunk gun IMHO

Put it in a ziplock with two loaded stainless mags and a Silica Gel Desiccant

I'd buy that in a heartbeat. I always liked the P97, especially in stainless. You did well.

Forgot about the DAO guns.

I meant to say that they nevr made them with a traditional Safety Decocker. One like on the original P90, P89, P85 MkII, etc....

Nice deal. I also like the P series pistols but have a P90 myself. They are robust and built to last. Also, if you decide to get more mags any of the P series 45 mags will work -P90,P97 or P345.

Yeah, I know it. I actually just ordered the Wilson Combat spring/follower upgrade kits from Midway for my mags as recommended for years on rugerforum.net.  It will make my 7rd mag hold 8 too.

Said to hell with it and detail stripped the slide and sent it along with the slide stop and decocking levers out for cerakote.  My local guy does an awesome job for $35 all-in shipped back to me in less than 10 days!  Pics when I get it back.

That's a great price and a no brainer.

The slide looks fine to me, and it has the plum color too. I'd leave it.

The only issue I had with mine is it would eject hot case at my head and down my shirt.
Ruger installed a new ejector and solved the problem.  Had mine about 12-14 years now.

It looks like it had some worn spots in the finish which might be rust concerns in a truck gun. I certainly wouldn't spend a bunch to fix it cosmetically but $35 is cheap for durable protection.

I'm in late here but my P97DC has over 8k rounds through it with no issues. It's not my primary any more but very reliable.

I got a limbsaver grip for it and installed it but it really fattened it up quite a bit.  I might have to break out the woodburner and do some stippling instead.  I hear these frames are a bit different than Glock polymer though.  It feels similar to a Cetme/G3 grip to me.

The frames do stipple a bit different than Glocks, but are still doable. I had a P97 that I stippled the high parts of the grip, the ribs I guess you could call them. I do not have any pics, sorry. It was pretty subtle visually, but was a lot better traction.

I might need to find another P97 one of these days. I just shot a P95 that my dad gave to my son before he passed away last year. It has been years since I shot one of the Ruger P series, and I had forgotten about how nice shooting they are.

I'll throw up some good pics for you once I get my slide back.  Gonna have to think on the stippling though for now...

Trigger spring broke.  Sent it back to Ruger (on my dime ) And they just didn't impress me with their service.  I asked them to swap my 7 round mag follower for an 8 Round And they ignored it.  Sold it for $275.  Good riddance.  Have a S&W 64 snub on the way instead.
