Yeah, I'd say so. I bought my P89 new in 1992. It easily has 15,000 rounds through it, and a metric buttload of dryfiring. The gun is still as tight as it was the day I bought it. Like most Ruger handguns, it's a tank, but it'll run forever.

A well used P89dc was my first handgun. Built like a tank, ugly as sin, but will shoot anything you could stuff in the mag and was always a pleasure to shoot. I regret selling it. Good deal. Go for it.

It was my first hand gun and agree with above posters. But after shooting more handguns, I realized that the trigger sucks. I sold it to a friend who only uses it for home protection. I just bought a Ruger SR9 after shooting one a friend had. They are $420 ish but a better gun and has a rail.

The p89 was one of my first pistols bought back in the early 90,s. Still have it and have over 40k rounds through it with no issue at all. I run reloads or anything through it and still shoots straight. It has been a really reliable firearm for me.

you can install a P94 trigger and a lighter spring from Wolff to improve the trigger. Instructions are on the web.

First semi I got was a p85, a bit heavy compared to my glocks, but rock solid. Can't go wrong with a Ruger.

I got my P89 in 1992 as well. I've put an untold amount of ammo through it with no problems. I did suffer a cracked guide rod. I called Ruger to ask for the price for a replacement and they sent me one for free.
Very dependable. It isn't a great CCW piece due to the size but I wouldn't hesitate to carry it for protection. I carry mine in a Bianchi hi-rise on my hip in the winter covered with my coat. |

Bought a stainless P89 DC in 1994. Put many rounds through it and, it never jammed. I passed it off to my son when he turned 21 a couple of years ago.
