I thought the Blackhawks could, Vaqueros could not.  Would be very embarrassed, and probably a little hurt, if my Blackhawk blows up using Ruger Only loads.

What's the verdict?

Which New Blackhawk? The regular New Blackhawk or the Flat Top model?

Do you mean new Redhawk?  I assume:

45 ACP + 45LC

Of course it will handle Ruger loads.  So will the old New Blackhawk.

The most official info came from Buffalo Bore:

(includes Blackhawk, Super Blackhawk, all pre-2005 Vaquero, Bisley, Redhawk)

These Heavy .45 Colt +P loads are NOT intended for the New Model Vaquero (small frame).

These loads are also safe in all modern Model 1892 leverguns
as well as all Winchester & Marlin 1894's"

An unofficial, but most helpful, post from rclark at www.thefiringline.com says:  "Easy way to ID.... If the gun has a two digit serial number XX-YYYYY then good for ROLs. If gun has three digit XXX-YYYYY then don't feed it ROLs. Simple."

Apparently, Lipsey's sold a medium frame Blackhawk?? But all large frame Blackhawks should be good.
