I have a 22/45 Mark Nothing in stainless, I bought in 1992. It was the first pistol I purchased after I got out of the Army.

It has many, many thousands of rounds through it. I taught my wife to shoot on it.

However, it has started to lead badly and, even when clean, the rounds keyhole at short ranges. I have a new 22/45 Mark III, but I want to get this one fixed due to the nostalgia factor.

Anyone know what it might cost to have Ruger replace the barrel?

When you clean it WELL, [like using something like lewis lead removing cloth or something similar] what does the rifling look like? It's almost impossible to actually wear out a .22rf barrel unless you get into the 100s of thousands of rounds. I'd look at the ammo you are now using long before I'd assume a shot out barrel.

I FUBARed a good MK II barrel. I bought a new take off for $100.00 on ebay and sent it to Clark Custom Guns to have it installed.

It IS NOT simply unscrewing the old barrel and screwing on the replacement on. It takes lathe work to time the barrel.

It is not cheap!!!!!!!

Clark's fees don't seem too bad to me. Even if I bought a $100 barrel, it looks like it would be $250 total.

I am tempted to put together my NFA trust and having that gun converted to host an integral suppressor.

They are not listed on there site, but if you call Volquartzen, they will sell you a takeoff barrel for ~$40.

I bought 7 5.5" stainless bull taken off barrels from them a few months ago for $35 each.

First off I would contact ruger. Explain to customer service what you did here. You might get a free shipping label and repair.
