THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
went shooting with my dad this afternoon with a few new pistols we bought, he has a new mark III target and every time a new magazine is inserted it takes two pulls of the trigger in order to fire the first round, the other 9 fire fine. It feels like the safety is on and no matter how hard the trigger is pulled it will not fire, and while releasing the trigger you can feel something "click" then works fine.

the pistol was new in box with no mods. I have a mark III 22/45 and was able to strip his clean it reassemble correctly without correcting the issue. The only difference I noticed between the two was the new target has a safety detent plunger and am thinking this is the culprit.

anyone else have this issue and a fix or does he need to send it to ruger?
Believe only half of what you see, and nothing that you hear.

If a bigger hammer wont fix it, then it must be an electrical problem.

Could be the magzine disconnect. Take it apart and look for burrs. Better yet, remove the magazine safety.

Another thought is the "Lawyer lock" Maybe not totally rotated off?

Replace the mag disconnect with a MKII bushing, or grind down the notch smooth. Many times it causes the mag to not seat properly.
