THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT After going through several small 9's, I want the original point and click device. No worries of FTF or FTE. Anyone had problems with them? |

I loved mine... Super light, very accurate and a blast to shoot.
I did however recently sell it for 2 reasons. Capacity/reloading in a real situation. First I couldn't find a twist speed loader that would work correctly with the dimensions of the LCR. The nose of the bullets would get in but due to clearance issues it would bind up and had to be jostled or held above where it would bind(not an easy thing to do either) as they were released. I then tried the Speed Strips, and found them to work better but still a learning curve to get any speed with them. Caliber was my second reason. It was my only .38/.357 style anything and didn't want the hassle in reloading parts or buying ammo. Maybe not a huge thing, but for me it was enough to give it a Con. As a reliable back up weapon it would be great, but just wasn't for me as a primary carry; I like the Semi's. Just break them in and find reliable feeding ammo and hope for the best, and train for malfunctions. |

I love my LCR. It is a wheelgun for the 21st century.
True, it does not work well with conventional speed loaders. I carry a reload in a speed strip, so that doesn't bother me much. It's got quite a few miles on it by now, and I have shot it quite a bit. I am confident in it. |

Wife has one. regular .38spcl version. Wish I had the one with the XS sight on it. I like that sight. Had to send it back once as something internal broke. Ruger had it back in just over a week. I have about 250 rounds through it. Frankly my .44mag Alaskan is more pleasant to shoot, but this gun wasn't bought with pleasure in mind. Easy to carry in a Crossbreed holster and wife shoots it well enough.

If you compare materials and the way it feels the nod goes to the J-frame. Actually shooting these small wheelguns, I'll go with the LCR (the trigger is superior). I own both by the way.

LCR is more fun to shoot than a 642 if you have bigger hands. Better grip helps a lot.
I will echo the advice to get one with the XS night sight. |

I have the .38spl Talo LCR and I find the trigger to be smoother and the recoil to more manageable than my 638 Airweight. Semi-autos are my main IWB or pocket carry ,but the LCR plays the role when it comes to riding a bicycle on the trails in a 5.11 shirt or when doing other outdoor activities. It's also the gun for ankle carry as a BUG ,but it rarely gets used in that mode.

I have had my LCR for over a year now. No issues. I have the .38 spcl. version. I carry a speed strip with me. I also have a speedloader from I think its" 5 star' firearms. Its aluminum and it fits and works better than a HKS. Accuracy is very good and the trigger pull is I think the best out there for a DAO.

I had an SP101. This LCR is my EDC gun. Very lightweight. |

The rounds bind just passed the case rim. Mostly because the speed loader can not get fully aligned on the cylinder due to grip clearance. Unless these are a newer design than the #36's I had. Or you have the boot grip on your LCR. |

I own the standard model and love it.
I carry it just about everyday as a BUG, usually in a pocket. I have had zero issues with it. It came with the Hogue overmold grip and it is much more pleasent to shoot with that, but I have since put the boot grip on it, as that makes it a little better for carrying. Speed Strips work best, they do take a little practice. The HKS 36A is the Speed Loader Ruger sells. In my experience, using the Speed Loader in conjunction with the overmold grips, I can only seat the rounds about half way into the cylinder. It works, but you do need to pay closer attention to insure they all go in. It's an excellent buy, obviously for a carry gun. I've sold a lot at work and have never had any negative reports from customers. |

Love it. Trigger is better than a J-frame S&W. Lightweight, well-built and totally reliable so far, about 250 rounds in. Mine really likes the Gold Dot 135 gr.+p short barrel load.
I carry the LCR with a couple of speed strips, when my G19 is too bulky. |

If you are looking at Lcrs check out cdnnsports. They are out of Dallas, and have (or used to have) them for much less than 450. I have bought accessories and ammo from them before and been very pleased (they actually called me to check because I listed a different shipping address than my drivers license showed).

I have seen LCRs for as little as ~$360. I got mine for $389.
I wear it on an ankle as a back up. I have put about 500-600 rounds through it at a training class recently and it is FANTASTIC. Great trigger, unbelievably accurate and easy to shoot for 2" barrel. It works fine with HKS 36A speedloaders ETA: if you load it with the muzzle down, it is not necessary for the rounds to fully seat in their chambers with the speedloader. They fall into the chamber once you turn and unlock the speedloader. Someone in the class got the .357 version 'just in case' he ever wanted to use it with the heavier load. When he felt how much lighter my .38spl was, he regretted that decision. He regretted it even more after he put 25 rounds of .357 through it. Unless you are willing to pony up for scandium guns, I doubt you will find a better gun in its size class. |

I've have an LCR w/CT laser grips, usually carry it in my front pocket in a Uncle Mike's holster(nylon with sticky panels, stays in pocket on draw), keep it next to the bed (& the,45 at night!) I have had it for over a year & put a fair amount of rounds through it. I use speed strips, but figure if I'm not in a movie 5 shots with serious muzzle blast will get somebody's attention while I look for cover in case I actually need to reload! Been using Glaser safety slugs for carry, they do some serious damage w/o over penetration. I really like mine .but +p stuff at the range makes your hand buzz! I also think the C/T grips are thinner; haven't tried a speed loader, but one might work better than with the puffy Hogue grips.

Under $500 with CTC grips is an absolute steal.
