THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I would have to field strip it in order to get it working again. Well last night I finally had enough and used a couple of 5 millimeter washers to replace the magazine safety, it took some filing and as usual it took forever to reassemble my mk 3 , but now magazines shoot out of the magwell. Haven't taken it to the range, but it functions well with snap caps. got to say I'm really happy so far can't wait to take it out plinking next week. Anyone else do this to their mk 3? |

I bought the Volquartsen bushing. My 5mm washer experiment didn't work well.

I did mine,
now I can't really remember exactly what I did, but I trimmed off part of the safety so that it would not block the sear when the magazine was out. All the original parts are back in and I only trimmed the one, it's been a few years. That's kinda bugging me now, I'm going to have to look at it and see what part I trimmed. The gun runs like a champ now and I don't have to repeatedly insert and remove a magazine to field strip it. I will never again detail strip that gun, I'd rather throw it in a lake. ETA: after looking inside, I remember. I removed the tail of the magazine disconnect lever (using the dreaded dremel tool) so that it would not block the trigger bar. I spent a lot of time looking at the parts diagram and then at the gun to see how it worked. then I trimmed the tail of that part so that when the magazine is removed, and it rotates forward, it doesn't block anything. The mod was very simple, and worked beautifully. Putting that bitchkitty back together, however, took both hands and a foot, and some vice grips, and quite a bit of cussing. I know I wasn't doing it right, but, damn. All in all, well worth the effort, deleted some rather stupid steps from field strip, and the gun will now fire without a magazine in place. I won't voluntarily do that again. |

Who ever came up with these stupid, unwanted and unneeded changes to these guns should clean out their locker, don't pass go, and do not collect $200. Ruger had the best .22 handgun on the market and ruined it with these "improvements". Bring back the Mark 2 and admit your mistake Ruger.

I thought the mag safety was a California requirement? They are still nice pistols after removing the junk parts. Were lucky they didn't make the parts harder to remove and replace with factory parts.

These types of lawyer parts are from idiots that like little wayne didn't know the gun would fire when the mag was out and shot himself. The same with TPMS sensors being a DOT reqiured on cars people were either to stupid or lazy to check the air in their tires and now we all suffer from their stupid actions.

I used a VQ MK II hammer and sear and a tight hammer bushing on each of them. They are functionally MK II triggers. The only thing of the 4 features added to the MK III that I like is the button mag release, and it is too short. I had to put extenders on mine. |

I've done 3 Mk III's. All have gotten Sam's bushing along with a Volquartsen sear and Bruce's LCI filler.
If it weren't for the threaded barrels, I would have passed on them until I came across used Mk II's. |

I also did the SAMs bushing on both of my Mark IIIs.Couldn't be happier. The other worthwhile mod is the LCI slot filler from B.Patza at RFC. That also makes a huge difference in how it looks. YMMV

The carbon cover is what bruce sells as a Blast Shield. They are also worthwhile additions. A Sam's bushing, a VQ target sear, LCI filler are all first rate mods. |

Yep, almost $40.00. if you could just figure out how to equip a Mk II with a mag release like every one else uses, we would be all set. |
