THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
Today I stopped at one of my spots and they showed me the new Ruger 1911 and I bought it at a good price now that I am home I have noticed that moving the gun side to side the slide makes a noise like it is loose. At further inspection you can move the slide side to side. Is this normal. I would think this would kill accuracy.

That's the reliability!

But seriously,
1. normal for inexpensive 1911s
2. doesn't affect accuracy very much

I have not held one of the Ruger 1911s first hand, but though they looked nice. I was at pretty big shop when visiting the in-laws and asked. The guy told me he didn't get much interest in them. hummm, I'd like to see one.
A little bit of movement is normal in mid priced 1911s.

I see now when it is fully loaded it tightens up quite a bit. I will get it to the range and see what I have.

Thanks

I like long sentences. Anyway it is probably normal. Best bet is to go shoot the gun and see how accurate it is. Mine is great and has the best trigger I've ever used on a cheaper 1911. I'm not sure why it would be tighter fullly loaded.

Great price. I think it's the nicest 1911 in its price category. I compare it to the Springfield Mil-Spec I owned, and find the Ruger much more pleasing.

A little off topic but did I see where Ruger is releasing a 1911 in 9mm or did I dream it?

$575 is a great price considering i paid $720 5 days ago, i do live in NYC tho. My slide is nice and tight however and doesnt have any wiggle or noise when moving the gun around.

Call Ruger Monday.
They will make it right and probably pay shipping both ways if you ask for it.
Waiting for them to hit my area but no luck so far.

I'm not suprised that there is a little rattle in a Ruger 1911.
Every one of their older P series pistols did the rattle, when you shook them, and they are some of the most reliable and affordable pistols made.
You'll just have to see how accuracy and reliability are.

A friend of mine bought one and has fired about 300 rounds through it. Nice gun. Only problem is that the front sight broke off. Ruger is sending him a new one , but does anyone have an idea which way to drift the sight out

I'd buy one for $575. They are selling for $7-800 on gunbroker last time I looked.

The rap on SR1911 from everyone I know who's got one is that they are extremely accurate.

Remember, the sights are on the slide. If the barrel locks up to the slide, it doesn't matter how much movement there is between the slide and the frame. Same as with an AR.

Get some grease on those rails and the rattle will be gone.

It's gotta move in order to be able to move. In other words, entirely normal condition unless you're some wad cutter guy from the 50's.

A little Googling revealed a 9mm Ruger SR1911 is just internet hype. If anyone has heard about it, it would be these guys.
