Wow, that is definitely incredible Marksman14 -- for 50 yards.  Bench rest shooting I assume?  I can't imagine that was done freehand.  I'm not sure I could do that bench resting....

Well went to the fun store today to bring back a SigTac knife I got from them.  2 of the screws had come out and the knife was falling apart.  They are sending it back to Sig and will see what happens.  I decided to check out what they had.  I was looking at a Springfield GI and was about to get it when this caught my eye.  I've been wanting one and now had the where with all to do it.  I asked the guy if he was going to try and sell it to me and he just laughed saying, "All I need to do is let you handle it and it's SOLD."  Well he was right.

Here it is my first Kimber:

Picked up my new Warrior on Monday and taking her to the range for her first session tonight.  Awesome pistol that I am psyched to have join my CDP Pro in the collection.  http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q43/Pk14_photos/Kimbersandcarry.jpg

Better pictures to follow.

OBTW - Steve Savina of Savina Firearms was awesome to deal with on both of these Kimbers.  Big thumbs up for him!

That is so damn badass I don't even have the words!  I want that done to my Desert Warrior so bad I can't see straight.  How's the finish holding up, especially on the barrel?

I expect the barrel to show wear after a few hundred rounds or so. You know, of all the cosmetic mods, I especially liked the barrel being black. Now the whole gun is black and tan. The shiney barrel really stood out to me.

That's one of the things I liked best about it also.  Please keep us updated.

Park = Parkerizing = I stripped the shit KimPro finsh that was flaking off out of the box and refinished with manganese phosphate parkerizing.

Is the kimpro finish asctually that bad?
Have others had problems with it?

VERY nice Warriors in here.

I got mine today (a black one, pics soon) but it came with the tan grips dyed black.

I would REALLY like a pair of the original tan Warrior grips to put on it.

Anyone here who replaced their standard tan grips want to sell me those?

If not, anyone know where I could buy replacement grips?

Thanks!

Pete, looks like maybe we have similar taste in knives as well! I carry a Mini Commander and have a full size commander too.

You'd better believe it!  I've kinda gone Emerson crazy lately.  I now have a Commander, mini-Commander, CQC-10 and CQC-11.  I really like the CQC-11 since it combines the best attributes of the Commander and CQC-10, but DAMN, it's a bit big for pocket carry.    I sure wish I lived down your way considering all those nice pistols you've been posting pics of.  Of course, I'd probably be dirt poor but pistol rich then, huh?!

Nice!  The Warrior and Desert Warrior have to be the two best pistols Kimber has made to date.  Being able to see how others customize them is the best part though.

It had multiple small areas where the finish flaked off, mostly on the slide. I called Kimber a few times and was not real impressed by what they had to say. It may have been taken care of no problem but since I have the capability of doing park myself AND since I prefer the dark gray finish, that's what I did. Unfortunately many of the small parts were stainless. This speeded up the need to replace the MIM parts with steel parts I could park.

My park tank:

It's all moot now anyway since I have sold that particular pistol.

I'm left with my old trusworthy all steel Clackamas marked piece.

Just picked this little guy up today...

Now if I could only figure out how to remove the safety...

So far I'm impressed with it, we'll see what happens when I get to the range.

Cheers,

It was a toss up between the Springer TRP and the Kimber as I wanted a rail. Local dealer had a DW in stock, so I went that route. I have some VZ 320s on the way for it.

Wanted to shoot it today, but its been raining its ass off here. Got it out the door for just over a grand, and dealer threw in 2 Wilson 47Ds for it:D

EDIT: Rain broke long enough for me to run about 150rds through it. Not a single issue. 50rds of WWB, 50 of Remington, and even 50 worth of Blazers :OHNOES!!:
Ran like a sewing machine and is a far more accurate gun than I am a shooter.

EDIT: Got the VZs on, and a TLR1

I have one of the first generation Warriors with the real Novak rear sight.

In fact about a year ago, during a low light night shoot, it was raining.  Doesn't happen in Arizona that often.  The finish is very worn, but the only thing that had any rust was the Novak sight.

AS to MIM parts, I am sure I will have some of those cheap parts break after I get a lot of rounds through the weapon.  Right now I only have about 11,500 rounds through it. (yea, eleven Thousand, five hundred)

Nothing has broken yet.  But when I have a lot of rounds through it, I am sure those MIM parts will break.

Mods, are Checkered Spring plug, 18.5 lb recoil spring, Kimber magwell, 3M tape on the front grip.  I went to Gunner grips, have both black and Coyote.  They rubbed my baby fat the wrong way when I carried CCW.  For pure shooting I like the Gunners, for carry I use VZ gater backs.

I like the feel of the weapon in the hand.  Stone reliable.  In fact it is the 1911 I use for most of my competition, when I use a 1911.  IDPA, Pins, Steel challenge.  An assortment of other games too.

It is my goto weapon.  I have 8 1911's.  3 of them Colts, which I like a lot, but when push comes to shove, the warrior is what I will have in the holster.

Go figure.
