I hate digging up old threads but for the op, I just upgraded the springs on my 1990 Mark VII. First time in all these years. Make sure that when you install the new springs, place the multi-coil end (it has 3 coils there) towards the gas piston end. Other wise (like did) you introduce many fail to go into battery conditions because the spring won't seat correctly.
Mine now runs like it did in 1990 !

I should check again for the year of mfg on my DEMkVII.
New springs might be in order, not that it's ever been shot a LOT.
I did have Trijicons and HOGUE installed right away when I got it.
Dang. Now I have the itch to get this gun out and shoot it again!
Thanking my BEST FREIND for this gun...he totallly surprised me with it.
Saw this picture on the internet. Sent it to my friend. We'd worked out a trade a couple of years earlier. We meet at the gunshop. Gunshop Guy pulls out this.
I say, "HEY! It looks just like the picture I sent you!"
My freind says, "IT IS. IT'S YOURS."
I repeat myself...twice.
Everybody looks at me and then the lightbulb went off!!!
"OH! OH, SHIT! NO SHIT?!"
I love telling that story! Got him back with a RUGER SP-101 and a GunVault a couple of years later...'nother story!~
Here she is with her equally unique RUGER SuperRedhawk .44 Sister. Special blackened stainless steel finish, etc.
Gun threads need gunporn!
