I don't know that they offer the old style any more. You can often still find them on Gunbroker, though. Just make sure it's not for a Mk I / VII if your gun is a Mk XIX.
I agree the full rail on the barrel looks like crap, and is likely a hand-grater to boot. One thing to watch for, I've got the older 2-slot rail on my .44 barrel and it is not in spec. It is too narrow. Most scope mounts won't clamp down far enough to get tight on it. That reminds me - I should measure my .357 barrel to see of it is in spec or not. |

that is the american way. ever since they moved production state side, they added the rail and it has slowed . i guess it take a long time to make it all those slots

I'm pretty sure that the MRI gun has the picatinny rail and the IWI gun has the 2-slot weaver rail.
Having all those slots might make it easy to mount any optic, but for folks that don't want to use an optic - it will function as a nice "cheese-grater" to eat the top out of your holster every time you try to draw the gun. I have the 2-slot IWI gun and it's perfect for mounting an Ultra-Dot sight. Just don't try and use the crappy rings that come with the Ultra-Dot as they'll probably be out-of-spec and scratch the bottom of the rail slot requiring touch-up. Ask me how I know... ![]() |
