I know you guys get tired of this gun porn, but I got to show off my new beauty.
To make it meet criteria I did a size comparison at the last photo so as to meet forum rules for post in this group.
$1859 OTD on gunbroker was best I could do on a BNIB from the dealer 2016 model.
I found another Mark 23 (AF date code) local that the owner looked like he rode around with it under his truck seat and also used the gun for a foot rest for $1500 and decided to pass on that one. I don't understand people and how they abuse the crap out of (not just use it like it should be) a high end piece of equipment like the Mark 23.
And yes I had my finger in the trigger guard on a few of the pictures fondling the trigger to the point of excitement. Sorry I didn't practice to keep the finger out of the guard until ready to make the gun go bang.
Hope you enjoy the pictures.

A little size comparison of a
Smith Wesson 500 Magnum
Desert Eagle 50 Cal
HK Mark 23

Date code reads it is a brand new 2016 gun. HK hasn't shipped Mk23's with the Eagle soft cases in a decade or more. They only ship in the cheap black plastic clamshell case like any other HK handgun now. They also stopped applying the maritime finish under the paint on the Mk23's, they now use the same "harsh environment" finish as the USPs.

OP let us know if your barrel hood chips. I know my 2014 gun and a friend's 2015 gun suffer from barrel hood finish chips. Kind of a pisser on a $1800 gun.

Well done. Arguably the best self-loading handgun ever made.

If your interest in getting the soft case, I found an HK website that sells it in three colors for fifty six bucks, not the ridiculous price of one twenty nine on eBay.

Those high prices aren't ridiculous! (I only say this because I'm thinking about selling my Eagle case )

Congrats, OP, I hope you love your new portable anti-aircraft gun!

Good for you. I have  wanted one of those for a while and it is definitely a grail gun for me. For the money, you get every penny's worth, a quality pistol that will last forever.

I ran 200 rounds through my Mark 23 yesterday and every time I fire this gun I love it more. Is it huge? Yes. Is it practical? Not really. But it's awesome and I'll never sell mine.

Is that $1800 and no night sights?  WTF?

It's really a stupidly impractical pistol. Yet I've always wanted one. Enjoy it.

I think a lot of us feel that way.

It is a large gun, but can be carried.  I had Blackpoint tactical make a holster and mag carrier for mine. I lost interest in it, so I sold it.  I have another one on the way, so I'll be back down at Blackpoint getting another rig for it.  The gun is a real joy to shoot, and I never should have sold the other one I had.  Until I get my new one, this HK will keep me company.  HK IS THE ONLY WAY!!
