I just put a PA red dot on my 22/45.
I haven't had it on there for a hour,
but now I want a red dot on my USP
.45 tactical, to get ready for an Osprey K.

My question is, will the RMR be that
much better than a Fastfire for half
the money?

I get buy once, cry once, but I thought
I would ask.

I have 2 FF III's, but they are on .22LR, and don't move with the slide.  While I don't doubt the FF for civvie use, or even hunting on a crappy, rainy cold day, I'm just not sure it will hold up on a USP.  I'd stick with the RMR and get it done right the first time.  Maybe head over to hkpro.com and lurk there?

I concur.

A USP deserves an RMR.

No point in shorting that.

Now for slide mod research.

Thanks for the input.

Can I buy a slide already
cut for the RMR. HK Parts
have some complete for
$399.

Thanks for any input.

Contact Mark Housel at L&M Precision. He did my Glock, and has done USPs and P30s, so he has experience with milling HKs.

I don't see the USP work
listed on their website,
but I will call them.

Thanks!

Also,
 Which RMR do you have?

I am thinking about the RM01, because
there is no switch mechanism to fail.

*Edit to add. Should I buy another slide to
have milled, or use the one I have?

Thoughts, please.

Thanks again!

John

For what my opinion is worth, I'd say buy a new slide and get it milled, and you can continue to enjoy your factory original setup while you wait.  Plus, if it doesn't work, you still have a functional firearm (presuming you got the other slide milled).

I had pretty much decided already to
buy a second slide & keep my original
one as is.

Where else, other than HK Parts, will
have them? I suppose I would like to
shop the price a little if possible.
I'll start googling that now.

Thanks!

John
