After years of wanting an HK I am going to pick one up next week and have the option of getting either a P30 or P2000.  I've handled both in the past,  but shot neither. As I understand it the P30 is an evolution of the P2000 correct?  The gun will serve for both HD and ccw purposes.

I currently carry a Glock 19 and have carried a Glock 17 in the past.

I am leaning towards the P2000 as it's slightly shorter, however the grip on the P30 just feels so good.

Which would/did you choose?

P30 unless you want subcompact

P30 or P2000SK (with P2000 mag and X-grip mag extension) for CCW.

Have owned both, liked both.

With that said I might be in the minority, I prefer the slightly smaller size of the P2000.  It fit my hard really well, although a lot of people might prefer the P30s grip.  (The P2000 holds 13 to the P30s 15)

Both my P30 and P2000 were LEM variants.  Keep in mind the P30 is sold in many configurations (safety, no safety) all have a decocker except the LEM variant does not.

Don't know how familiar you are with HK trigger variants make sure you do some homework before buying if you're wanting a P30 because I have seen many people with a variant they don't want.  (They bought DA/SA variant 3 and they want LEM v1)

Both of the guns I am looking at V3,  with no saftey lever.  I am leaning towards the P2000 at this point.

I really like the P2000.  It's really well built and prices are fairly reasonable these days.

I had a P30 and a P2sk and wound up selling them both on impulse buys and going back to Glocks. Now I'm looking at getting the VP9 and maybe another sk somewhere down the line.

I was trying to decide between the 30 and the regular 2000 when I was looking... I Went with the P30 because of the ergos... It was by far one of my favorite handguns... But like I said I sold it on an impulse, like a douche. It was a great shooter and the first handgun my wife ever shot, by her 3rd shot she was hitting the X and stayed there the whole time.

Just wanted to point out that if you are planning to buy new, waiting a week may cost you an extra $200. I believe the 31st is the cutoff for the rebate.

I had a p2000 and sold it and went with the p30.  The p30 has a much more customizable grip.  It fits my hand like a glove.

I felt the same way until I shot it more. Takes a lot of getting used too, but once you do it is pretty sweet and def has it's place on a carry gun.
