THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I put a deposit on a Sig MK25 last week, and went by today to pick it up. I fondled a P30 (and a P30L) while waiting on them to get my Sig. Damn. The P30 felt so much better in hand than the Sig. I ended up telling them to hold the Sig another night so I could think about it.

I've read ton of stuff about the P30 today, mostly great, with some negatives about the stock sights and trigger pull on the DA/SA models. They have an LEM as well, which I will check out tomorrow.

My question to you guys is this. Other than the factory glow in the dark sights not being tritium (and thus not glowing on their own) and the DA pull on the DA/SA models, is there any other negative I am over looking?

My P30 came with Meprolight Heckler & Koch Tru-Dot® Night Sight's on it.

Interesting. The ones in the store I saw today had the glow in the dark painted sights.

All "stock" from factory HK P30's come with those glow in the dark stickers/paint. The tritium night sights were added in the US. Tritium is outlawed in Germany.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. So, besides those two things, any other negatives?

If they were nights sights from Germany isn't the correct term called luminova?

Yes. I wouldn't consider them night sights though. If I'm carrying it's concealed, so they won't be getting charged.

The two guns are within $30 of each other. The Sig has real night sights and an extra mag. The HK has far better ergonomics. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the HK. The extra mag and sights can be added to the HK, the better ergonomics can not be added to the Sig.

The DA pull is long, but seem a allot more refined than the USP. All I have shot for years. I like it.

The only negative is that if you do go with HK she'll multiply on you when you're not looking.
HK USP 9 w/Trijicon night sights
HK USP COMPACT 40/357Sig w/TLR-1
Remington 870 6+1
Marlin 336C 30-30
MSAR STG-556
Remington 700 5R .308
Remington 700 300 win mag

IMO the P30 is the best pistol currently available. The grip is damn near perfect. My preference is the LEM model. The trigger and reset is really nice. My favorite pistol by far and I've been shooting handguns for 30+ years. YMMV
I have a HK45 V1 DA/SA as well so I have experience with both triggers.

I believe at that difference, the HK is a much better value.

I agree. The Sig Mk 25 is $849, the HK P30 is $879.

I have both and the P226 is a better all around pistol. The H&K P30 beats it on ergonomics, but the overall shootability of the Sig is better IMHO. You really can't go wrong with either.

I have the P30 and the only thing I wish it had was the LEM trigger. My other 2 HK pistols have the LEM trigger and that is just what I like. Both the Sig and P30 are top of the line and in the model you are looking at the trigger will be more alike than different. If the P30 was the LEM model I would go with it, if not I would go with the SIG and have the short reset trigger installed.

Buy the P30/P30L in the LEM trigger version. Don't look back!

I've got the P30 in DA/SA, and have enjoyed it thoroughly. I like having the decocker, but would like to try shooting the LEM model just to compare. Got a threaded barrel for it recently to boot it up against a HD 2.

Obviously on the HK forum, so there's going to be a bias here, but I've handled and fired both (even the new Mk25) and hands down the P30 is the winner in my book. You said it so well...can't add ergonomics, whereas Trijicon/Meprolight sights and extra magazines can be easily acquired. I went regular length, 9mm, DA/SA, no safety, couldn't be happier.

After a recent 1000 rd shooting session with my P30 and PPQ, I ended up selling the PPQ. It's better than a Glock but won't replace my P30 LEM. YMMV

There are no negatives. The HK pistols are phenomenal. My service pistol is a P2000 LEM in .40 S&W and I really like it, I also have an HK45C and it's my absolute favorite non-1911 pistol. I'll buy a P30 in the next couple years when I can afford one.

Sig's are USA made and HK's are made in Germany. So that's how Sig gets away with adding tritium night sights to their pistols.

I've owned several HK's. Brother-in-law owns a Mk.25, and a good friend owns P30L, USPc's, and a PPQ. They're all quality pistols. They're all going to be reliable "when it counts." Personally i'm a HK guy. I carry a P30 or P2000sk on and off work. I know some individuals that carry HK and use the PPQ for matches. PPQ has an amazing trigger out of the box, so many do like it for competition use.

I say get the HK!
