THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
Only my second handgun but my father really pushed me into it (he owns a fullsize 9mm usp, which is a pleasure to shoot) and when he called me saying he found one used at a LGS for $600 w/3mags and no external wear. Well needless to say I had him scoop it up for me. My first gun/carry gun a few months ago was a gen 4 g27 (40cal) so naturally I was excited to add a full size 40 to my "collection". But to my dismay shes marked KD (1993!) is this an issue? The things only 4 years younger then me! I cant believe how awesome it looks for its age. I took her down and cleaned/inspected her, besides the top of the barrel chamber being a little shiny she looks mint. Not to mention the serial number is xx-666x

MY question is, do you the barrel will need replacing anytime soon? I'm going to buy new recoil springs and new mag springs for my fathers 9 as well as my 40, is the un-captured recoil spring for the 1993 usp's the same? I plan on shooting it a lot, tonight being her first trip to the range. Few hundred rounds a month if work keeps up.

AND yes, my father is awesome. I had to force him to take $200 after a lot of arguing. He's a good guy.

That barrel will probably outlast you. I'm not as sure about the recoil spring service life.

You will not need to replace the barrel. If the gun is in good shape it probably has not seen much mileage. I have approximately 25k through one of mine and it still holds 2" groups at 25 yards.

I'm not sure about the recoil spring - you may call HK customer service and ask them that question... or try hkpro.com
