THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I'm running a poll on another website to pick my one and only system of handguns.
I'm trading them all in for a few full size and compact versions of the same gun.
Glock is destroying everything, but gen4 issues worry me, and I can't really use the gen3.
M&P's are second, but the M&P9c while a tiny bit thinner, is a bit bigger overall than its competitors.
HK's are a far far distant third, I'm surmising price keeps them out of most people's collection.

so I come to you guys.

has the HK ever failed you?

If I could pick one gun to own for the rest of my life, I would choose my P2000sk. I would only lose sleep wondering if I had chosen a rifle instead.

I've used it in competition, I've used it in torture tests, I carry it religiously, it accompanies me on camping/dual sport riding trips that have spanned from VA to WV to KY to CO and it has left me wanting nothing. And I'm just getting started.

Now I need to find a way to suppress it...

It's in this picture:

And this one:

And this one:

And some of its competition in the safe:

You can not compare a glock to a H_&_K. For quality, reliably, the H_&_K will win hands down everytime.

My USP45 Tactical has never failed me except for ONE time and that was a reloaded ammo issue, NOT the gun. The pistol itself had never failed. Sadly, 45 is expensive and I can't shoot it as much as I'd like. But I've put between 1 and 2k of a mixture of Federal, Winchester, Wolf, Tula, and lead reloads, and it has run flawlessly, even shooting Tula suppressed. I would definitely trust my life to it. I just need a couple more mags and a lot more ammo so I can really shoot it like I want

Never had a failure on a HK, not even a stovepipe. One of my HK's was a local PD trade in that was obviously used and abused to the n'th degree has never failed either.

What is this H&K failure that you speak about? Is it an Urban Legend?

My buddys USP 45 got a piece of grass in the action while shooting it underwater in a pond. I think it also got a bad primer once. The safety quit working right after about six years. It still shoots fine but the lever just slips over the bar that puts it on safe and decocks it. Not a big deal since it still works fine, you just dont have the cocked and locked option.

My wifes USP 9mm hasn't failed once, it does like to hit her in the head with brass. Doesn't seem to do that when I'm shooting it, just something about the way she holds it.

IME the triggers slap my finger a bit and I'll start feeling a little sore in my trigger finger after about 50 rounds. I like them pretty well, I'd like to try one with their match trigger sometime.

Only once

I loaded a round backwards once in the mag....the HK chambered it but luckily for me ...it did not fire

;)

ps...Serious answer...is not a single time. 2 - P2000SK's, H&K 45C, and 2 USP Compacts.

P2000sk .40 is my daily carry. Not a hiccup after 4 years and 10K+++ rounds through the gun. Glorious with the Streamlight TLR-3 attached. Carry every day in a light-bearing Raven Concealment IWB with 12-round P2000 mags and X-Grip adapters. Light, gun, and mags have never failed, and it's small enough to pocket carry with the 9-rd mags, even with the light attached. Not going to get any HK hate here!

No one makes a gun that won't fail...no one. That said, given good ammo, proper maintenence and good magazines, the USPs, P2000 series, P30s and HK45 series are about as reliable as handguns get. I am 'this' close to selling my unfired G34 and replacing it with a P30L, and my P2000 9mm has never once bobbled, although I don't shoot it all that much.

My P30 (when I had it) did the same thing with my fiance when she shot it. I think it was just how she held it, because I never had that problem. She hasn't been having the problem with my USP45 Tactical when she shoots it, though. In fact, she loves it more than any 9mm she's shot. I love her

The slide didnt lock back on an empty mag on my P2Ksk when I first got it.
It hasnt had that problem since...not sure if my thumb was riding the slide release and I adjusted or what

Out of all my HKs and years shooting them this is the only thing close to a malfunction.

I've shot a few HK's, all of which were jam-o-matics. However, HK has a fiendish following which makes me believe that I've just encountered a few of the very small bad bunch. That being said, if i stumble across a USP at a good price it'll be mine

As far as what the interweb says, it'll enevitably be glock, but the famous Jeff Cooper has never been more accurate but with his glock quotes.

Seems like once you enter the 2,000+ round per year crowd most of the glock fans disapear. Not saying there aren't any, but not as many as the interweb will let you believe.

I started with 1911's first and still have them, I also have Glocks that I mainly carry due to caveman like simplicity and they all work too, but I can tell my USP is built like a tank.

I got my USP as a police trade in back in December for $535 out the door. The finish is worn and I have no idea what the round count is but I have put about 250 rounds though it with no problems. I know that's not much but it made me even happier about the purchase. It came with two mags in a cardboard box. I swear it shoots like a 9mm and I can honestly say that even having owned and shot 1911's for years and Glocks, I was more accurate with my HK the first day out shooting than I have ever been with my other handguns. Why? I don't know, but I like it. I was seriously hardly trying and I was hitting simple coke cans left and right. Also, I really like the fact that I can carry it cocked and locked just like a 1911.
When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

I've only had my HK's for 10 years, and I'm not going to say that any mechanical device is, or can be, perfect, but both of my HK's get pretty damned close. Much closer than Gaston's fabulous creations.

H&K Fail? Whaaaaa. j/k

I've put tons of rounds down range with my P2000sk and it has never failed me. My USP failed twice, but that was not the guns fault. I over lubed it and it didn't like it. But a quick yipe down and a good shake and it worked just fine.

My P30LS in .40 has been flawless so far. It is the smoothest shooting .40 I have shot and I have fired quite a few. I'll still keep my Glock 19 around but the 24 and 35 have found found new homes. Hell it even motivated me to make a couple holsters.

Bad camera phone pics of my EDC.
