Should Colt triggers feel funny to someone who is used to Smiths?

I have two K frames and one Detective Special. The Colt feels..almost two staged. Perhaps 75% heavy but smooth double action followed by sponge.

Is my gun bubbaed? Worn? Normal? I did disassemble and oil with no discernable change.

Normal.  Colt and Smith triggers are completely different.  Colt triggers tend to stack as you pull them.  Smith's are generally a smooth pull all the way thru.

Yup, just the nature of the beast.

As above, due to the old "vee spring" action design that locks the cylinder tightly Colt's old style action does "stack" or get heavier as it's pulled.

Once you get used to it, or if you "grew up" with it, it feels natural, and can actually be used as a shooting aid.
With a little practice you can tell just when the hammer is about to drop, then use the last bit with a slower pull to give more accuracy.

If you're accustomed to a Smith trigger you can accomplish something very simitlar to what you describe.  A proper Smith trigger reached a plateau and you can hold it there and release when you want to.  Much like a compound bow pull.

It's called "Staging the trigger".
