I just can't decide between stainless and blued.  I already have a blued xse government and a stainless xse combat commander.   This one will be in the government size (either o1092 or o1992.)  which one does everyone else like?  I like them both and I'm having a hard time deciding!

I don't know what it is but all stainless 1911s have just never appealed to me. So I would go with blued.

But then 9mm just ain't right in a 1911 either.

So if you're going to go wrong go big. Get your 9 in stainless.

I fell the same way about a 1911 being a .45 but I have three in .45 now.  So it's time to try a 9mm

A friend had one about 30 years ago and I shot it once. Had the weirdest recoil. I thank the barrel's rifling was twisted in the opposite direction. Dang thing felt like it wanted to twist out of you hand. Just felt weird.

I bought the 01092 Stainless a couple months ago and really like it. I had blued, parkerized and two-toned 1911's and always wanted a stainless for the collection. It's really nice if that's what you like.

You need both of course----patience and money is all it takes.

I bought the Stainless and love it so far 1,600 rounds through it without a problem.

A full sized 1911 in 9mm makes no sense to me.

I bought the Blue 9mm Government yesterday and shot it this morning. I love it, I have never kept a Stainless Steel 1911 for any length of time so I'm guessing I just don't care for them.

It didn't to me either until I ran a couple of mags through it and wished I'd gotten one sooner.

Nice looking 9mm Government Model.

Is that a specific model number? Or did you add the skeleton hammer & grip safety?

This is, apparently, the general consensus.

Funny, if it was in .38 super it would be fine, of course modern 9mm is as powerful as .38 super but much cheaper so you can practice.  I like the blued one personally, let us know how it shoots bet it will be more accurate than the .45 version.

Your poll doesn't allow for 50/50.

Blued slide and stainless frame, or vice-versa also looks sharp, IMHO.

Blues for me. I pretty much hate stainless and love the way a used shot and carried blued gun like after a few years or decades of use.
I lived in a very humid area until recently and never had issues with rust on blued guns at all.

I ended getting the blued version the first week in January and in July I bought a two tone sig.

YES.  The hardwood grips that Colt uses have some weird assed dye or something in them that'll eat anything:

What do you plan to do with your full size 9mm?   Any custom work?   The first thing I like to do is replace all the trigger components with a commander hammer and a fitted grip safety.   I like the pistol to sit comfortably in my hand and the low recoil of a 9mm in a steel gun, makes a soft shooter.

Sorry for the late reply. I added a Wilson government model drop in GS, Colt enhanced hammer and Colt conceal carry government factory thin grips.

I have blued one. I wasn't sure about being a heretic, but I can afford to put more rounds to it, so I've made my peace with God.

I've got a blue 1911 full size in 9 mm and a commander in 9 mm.  Commander is much better imo.
