A guy local has a 4" King Cobra. It's in very good condition. But the asking price of $1500 is pretty steep. Was wondering what the actual worth is of these pistols.
I have an excellent condition 6" King Cobra I bought when they first came out around '84 or so. Was wanting to add the 4" to it.

Colt revolvers have skyrocketed... "fair" shoudl probably be around $800_$900 for one in really nice condition. But being a sellers market... I would think $1200 would be more in line. Akin to the Anaconda

Bought my 6" for $380 a long time ago. Really want to add a 4" to go with it, but this guy is firm on the $1500.
Oh well. Not this guy.

$1500 is Python territory, even today with skyrocketing prices on Colt's.

$1500 for a King is stupid money.  Unfortunately that seems to be what they are going for.  There are several on Gunbroker with bids in that range.  Not asking price, real bids.

Nice revolvers.  Not that nice.

Around here a a clean King Cobra sells for about $1200-$1400 depending on finish and barrel length. For $1500 I would expect perfect full polish with box and paper work. That price isn't out of line for the right gun.

Try to track down a Peacekeeper.  I think the sellers are willing to let them go at more reasonable prices.

His price is right in line with what the current market is right now. I recently started collecting "snake" guns and paid $1600 for a 4 inch King Cobra with box in pretty good condition. I admit I may have paid a couple hundred too much but I would say you would be fine paying $1500 for a nice gun.

Two years ago, I paid 900 for a King Cobra Elite unfired in the box. I would never pay 1500 for one. Then again, I have never paid more than 800 for Python either.

Paid like $350 for my 4" NIB.  Had maybe 100 rounds threw it. Such a heavy trigger pull at DA.  The only thing I hate about it.

So who is paying the $3-4k price tags on gunbroker?

Crazy money, you can pay 1/3 of what he is asking and buy a Trooper/III and laugh all the way to the bank with the rest of the money.

Around here stainless are bringing $1200 and blued will bring $1500. As I recall for every 10 made 9 were stainless and 1 was blued.

Deals can still be found. After seeing what the prices have done lately, I went on a search for one just in case Colt did not reorganize in bankruptcy sufficiently to maintain.
Found a really nice Cobra 4" for $500 and picked up a new in box Delta Elite 10MM for $600. Both from the same person. I don't think they had any idea what market values are today.

Just take the Blue Book with you as your inspecting the guns. They see book values and don't question your offers as much.
