I love the mustang. But I really like the traditional 1911 look with a blued gun, wood grips.
The new mustangs only come in stainless with grips and the xsp which is all black and does not have changeable grips.

Just curious if colt has it in the makings to make one like the original mustang series 80.

Probably not.   There isn't a whole lot of demand for blued guns.  The tooling is setup for stainless cutting speeds.

The lower half is alloy not stainless anyways.   But you could just have that receiver parkerized and haver yourself a nice little mini-combat elite.

I doubt that they'll make one in carbon steel. Why not just try to find an old one?

as the guy who runs the custom shop told me a couple years back when i asked some questions

"We've been a custom shop longer than other companies have existed, we can do about anything you can think of."

Give 'em a call, the guys name is Brent, easiest guy in the gun industry to talk to

Also, if you wnt the look of blued, may I suggest looking into Ionbond? It can be polished and everybody mistakes it for perfect bluing.

Just picked up a blued one off EE.

Note: Pocketlite, not an original Mustang
