Forgive if this has been asked an answered, but I could not find this information elsewhere.

As I was going through my spare parts bin, I found what is obviously a cylinder latch from a Colt revolver in a dusty corner.  Is there a way to tell what frame it goes to by its measurements?

Edit:  It's from a modern-era revolver, and has the plastic bushing implanted on the back.

Thanks.

If it's modern, it's either a medium "E&I" frame like the Official Police and Python, or it's a small "D" frame like the Detective Special and Diamondback.

I don't have a "D" frame to measure, but my "E&I" frames are:

Front of the latch is right at one inch wide.
Length is about 13/16".
